"Paul and his team were absolutely fantastic! They were so courteous and respectful and meticulous in their prep and carpentry work- and we had A LOT of things that needed fixing like rotted windowsills, broken deck stairs, incomplete trim moulding, broken shingles and a crooked garage cupola. They fixed it all! Now my 115 year old house looks so beautiful and I can’t thank Paul and his team enough. They were also so tidy and cleaned up their work areas every afternoon before they left. If you’re considering Olde England Painting just hire them. You will not be disappointed. Last but not least, they were also the most reasonable quote I got and I met with 5 other painters. I would hire them again in a heartbeat!"

"Perfect. This was not a typical job. Normally painters paint flat surfaces. This job was to paint (stain) 62 6-sided boards installed as a pergola. I tried to do it myself but only did 4 boards before I gave up and called Target Painting. (Another company refused the job.) Gene was great, as well as all the crew. At one point, one of the painters went up on the roof to monitor the progress and inspect the hard-to-reach places. Everything was great, including the cleanup."

"This was our second time hiring Quality Preferred to do prep and paint for the interior of a house prior to move in. Would absolutely use again for future projects. High quality work and attention to detail, professional demeanor, work done on schedule, and good customer service. If you want to make sure job is done right, go with them."

"The Evolution Painting Company was very cooperative about completing the project within the dates we have specified. The work they did was excellent, the workers arrived on time every day and did not leave until the job for the day was done. The job supervisor checked the work at the end of each day and they payed attention to all the detail. They were polite and courteous and very eager to please. We are thrilled with the work that they did with painting our house and staining our decks."

"Marco is an amazing pro with a team to match who knows every part of a complex paint job such as our exterior units. He helped us decide between oil stains and solid paints and gave us plenty of help by application of samples to our wood siding. His carpentars made all necessary repairs and replacement to the siding and the trim. When it rained they held off any work and he put extra workers on it so we finished it in a timely manner. I will definitely hire Marco for future work both exterior and interior. He wasn’t the cheapest bid, but when additional changes were needed he worked with us to stay within a reasonable budget. Bravo Marco!!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.

You’ll need to restrain your deck when you notice fading, cracking, peeling, or mold and mildew over a moderate to large area, or when it’s become especially difficult to clean. As for how often to stain a deck, plan to do it every two to three years or whenever you start to notice extended damage.

Ensure gutters and downspouts remain clean, monitor wall integrity, and promptly address any arising imperfections or peels concept permanence rooted.

If you have a smooth, already bonded concrete surface, painting a concrete pool deck can be a great way to brighten up the area and add longevity. If the surface has another covering or a different type of paint has been used previously, you won’t be able to paint it without removing the existing coating. Wooden decks benefit from painting as it helps to keep them watertight. Quality pool deck paints also help make the surface less slippery and less likely to gather mold and mildew or prematurely crack.

There are more pros than cons when staining a deck. Deck stain is more affordable than paint, it protects the wood and allows the natural textures to shine through, and it can revive the appearance of your home. However, deck stain also requires prep work (sometimes days or more), carries more upkeep than a painted deck, and can fade over time if not cared for.
