Recent Septic Tank Service Reviews in Richmond
BLUEGRASS SEPTIC & PORTABLE TOILET SERVICE
I had called another Septic Service in Frankfort to pump tank. When he arrive we had cap open ready to pump. He said we had a thick layer of scum. Did not know if his pump could remove. So he pumped the water out of the middle. Left the Scum and sludge. Charged me full price. Sold me gallon of chemicals to put in tank and told me to call him back in a year. I didn't like the idea but I paid him and he left. I did research online then Called Glenn from Bluegrass Septic. He told me he had never seen a tank he could not clean. So he came out the next day. Took tool and was able to clean everything out of my tank. So be careful who you call in Frankfort. The cheapest price is not always the best deal. When I confronted the other company for a refund they said the had been doing that way for 30 years. I will review them on their site
Called for an appointment Monday and they were able to be onsite by 9 AM the following morning. They called in advance of their arrival and were on time. The two man crew was very professional and wasted no time in performing the clean-out. They had a nice tanker truck and were able to reach the septic tank without driving on the lawn despite the distance between the tank and the driveway. They left the tank area as clean as they found it and took the time to answer a few questions I had on the system
They arrived exactly on time, informed of us of the best procedure we needed done to receive optimum results with our system. Answered all of our questions, advised us on proper care and maintenance for our current system. They were very professional, very courteous, and very polite. I highly recommend them
Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup
Called service at midnight because of flooding in downstairs. Husband was able to get water under control, so we told them it was't an emergency. Technician arrived the next morning. He worked quickly and efficiently. We would use them again.
Specialty Contracting Services
Initially was called out to repair a broken gas line and we decided to hire them to do all of our plumbing. They were very professional and did an excellent job. They advised us every step of the way as to what they were doing and advised us if and changes needed to be made. They cleaned up after themselves and their work was very well done and thought out. We would definitely hire them again
I got an appointment within 24 hours. They called just prior to arriving, and came on time. The two men were very professional and were very thorough, leaving the yard in excellent shape.
Excellent job. Called Monday, work done Tuesday. Gilbert called an hour before arrival and did the work efficiently. Both he and his partner were polite and professional. Highly recommended.
BLUEGRASS SEPTIC & PORTABLE TOILET SERVICE
Mr. Saylor was prompt, friendly, and even though we had not had our septic tank cleaned out in 30 years (eeks!) and it made his job much harder, he charged us no more than he had promised. I could not recommend him more highly! Steve Smith
HOGUE SEPTIC TANK CLEANING
It took a couple days to solve problem but everything drains well now. Very prompt and courteous people.
Excellent service. We moved here two years ago and previous owners never had it done, so 13 years total. Chris came out, found the tank VERY quickly. I had many questions since we came from NY and city sewer. He explained everything. They had to dig a bit, but the entire process only took 45 minutes. All of the dirt and grass was replaced and it looks as good as when they came. Immaculately clean.... Even the truck was sparkling. I HIGHLY recommend them. Thank you MARTIN'S Service

"Owner was very courtesy. Very prompt on getting the job started and completed in a timely manner. The quality of work was very good. Price was reasonable and affordable. Would greatly recommend and use again. "

"You cannot beat Hogue Septic. From first call to the truck pulling out of the driveway, a great experience. Prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, down to earth folks. Dee showed up to pump a tank on a house we'd just bought. Took us a while to locate the lid but sure enough he found it and went to work. He did a great job of getting all the sludge out, washed down the walls and suggested I install risers for future access. Off to the supply house I went to buy risers, came back as he was finishing up and he showed me how to install myself (saving me $100). Overall great service; Hogue is the only septic company around as far as I'm concerned.

"Awesome. Call the day after Thanksgiving, at 7:30am, they were here by 9. Cleaned out the sewer, very nice technician. Unfortunately, they did not get it all out so I called again a few days later and they showed up within the hour and got it right! From Tonya who is in the office to the technician everyone was so professional and polite. Would use again in a heart beat!

"We used him for several years and really liked them. He does really good work but we had a project for Christmas and we were in a hurry to get it done and he was supposed to get us an estimate but we called him thrice for it, he kept saying he would get it to us but he never got back to us. If he didn’t want to do it or if he didn’t have time, he should have just told us, that was all we asked, so I think that was really poor customer service. We have used him for a long time for heating and air, for plumbing and he does really great work but this time, he never got back to us. So this is not an usual experience with him but after this experience, we will not consider using him again or get quotes from him again because this has been a negative enough experience that we have changed our view of him. We wanted it done by Christmas; all he had to do was cancel it so that we could find someone else to do it but we had someone else take care of it eventually. In the past, he had been responsive but not this time.

Replacing a drain field requires digging up quite a bit of land and involves a decent amount of testing. Using this guide, you’ll learn how much it costs to replace a drain field based on a few key factors such as size and type of septic system.
Answer: There are several signs that indicate your septic tank could be full. These include standing water over your septic tank, a strong odor coming from your yard, gurgling water, slow drains, or a sewage backup. While many of these signs could also be indicative of a clogged system, they should all be checked out by a professional ASAP to avoid costly damages. In the absence of any of these signs, it’s recommended that septic tanks be emptied every 3 to 5 years on average.
How often should a septic tank be serviced?
Answer: On average, septic tanks should be serviced every 3 to 5 years in the absence of any worrying signs that the tank is clogged or full. The size of your septic tank, the number of people living in your home, and your average water usage will all impact how often your septic tank needs to be serviced.
What are the most common causes of septic tank failure?
Answer: The most common cause of septic tank failure is improper maintenance. Failing to pump a septic tank on the appropriate schedule will cause septic tank failure and likely result in a costly septic tank repair or replacement. On average, septic tanks should be pumped every 3 to 5 years, but the size of your tank, the number of people in your home, and your average water usage may shorten or extend this timeframe.
How much does it cost to pump a septic tank?
Answer: The cost to pump a septic tank is $400 on average or about $0.30 per gallon. The size of your septic tank, as well as local labor costs, will impact the cost of pumping your septic tank. Most septic tanks are between 600 and 2,000 gallons in size, meaning the average cost range is between $180 to $600.
How much does it cost to install a septic system?
Answer: The cost to install a septic tank system is between $3,060 and $9,810, on average. The size of the septic tank you choose, the land you’re installing it on, the type of system you choose, and local labor costs will all influence the total cost of installing a septic system. Anaerobic septic tanks (those that don’t need oxygen) typically cost between $3,000 and $8,000. Aerobic systems, which utilize oxygen to activate bacteria and are popular on smaller properties, usually cost between $10,000 and $20,000.
How long does a septic system last?
Answer: When septic systems are well maintained, they can last up to 30 years or more. If a septic system isn’t properly maintained, such as when it isn’t pumped regularly, it may malfunction and require costly repairs or a premature replacement. In general, septic tank pumping is recommended every 3 to 5 years to ensure the septic system lasts as long as possible.
