"They were excellent. They quickly made a draft that only needed 3 minor adjustments. The final product was exactly what I needed. They referred me to a structural engineer for review. The whole process took half of the time that they initially estimated. I would definitely use them again."

"I found working with Micheal at H2K Services money well spent. I didn't want to rush in to a high dollar project without knowing what I was really facing where my foundation was concerned. I admit I was fairly stressed when I decided I needed a structural engineer. I was very happy to have a walk-through and discussion of my property. I got an excellent overview of the structure and function of my foundation (very concise). Once completed, I received a written review and explanation in a very timely manner. I rate H2K Services as high as is possible."

"Jim and his team came out to take care of a growing crack and small footing/structural issue on our entryway. Though it was generally tough to get anyone to show up, they came out, bid and began work within 2 weeks of first contact which was appreciated. While working on our house they also completed some extra repairs on a cracked archway for our front door, more repointing on the face of the house and the chimney and I hired them to help put on our chimney caps - a project I had been told a half dozen times "couldn't be done" because of the style of our flue or contractors would disappear on me. They spent the time to do their best to match the mortar color to our historic home's mortar color. No mix is going to be a 100% match because of various factors (including age), but of the two times we've had masons out to do repairs their initial mortar mixing was pretty spot on in color and texture. Our most problematic area ended up cracking slightly again after repairs, but Jim had one of his guys back out to repoint the area again. This time with a slightly different color, but without extra charge. Overall Jim's team did an excellent job, addressed any concerns I had and made sure the job was done properly to preserve the historic nature of our home as best as possible."

"Very professional, completed the project in the promised timeframe, and kept us informed of their progress throughout the job. They cleaned up thoroughly and answered all of our questions. They did a great job of inspecting the issue and setting up what needed to be done to fix the foundation. We were very pleased with the work they did and so we went back to them for the additional work. Highly recommend."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Homes in Shawnee with expansive clay soil, older stone or brick foundations, or split-level designs often pose extra challenges for structural engineering. Signs like sloping floors, sticking windows, or visible cracks suggest underlying issues. Properties near rivers or on steep lots may need special drainage solutions due to local soil movement, so a thorough site assessment is essential before starting any project.

Helpful?

In Shawnee, act quickly if you notice cracks in load-bearing walls, doors that won’t close, or uneven floors—these often signal urgent foundation or structural issues. Projects focused on routine inspections or minor preventative upgrades can typically wait. Pay special attention after heavy rainfall or freeze-thaw cycles, as local soil conditions can shift rapidly and impact your home’s stability.

Helpful?

In Shawnee, you’ll need to decide on project scope, preferred materials, and your timeline early in the process. You may also need to coordinate with neighborhood associations or utility companies if your project affects shared spaces or services. During construction, you’ll review and approve any design changes, provide property access, and participate in final walkthroughs to ensure all work meets your expectations.

Helpful?

After finishing structural engineering work in Shawnee, keep stamped engineering reports, design calculations, permits, inspection records, and certificates of completion. Save contractor credentials, materials specifications, progress photos, and warranty information. Store physical copies in a secure place and maintain digital backups. Update your home insurance records to reflect completed foundation repairs or structural improvements for future reference.

Helpful?

In Shawnee, a structural assessment usually takes 1–2 weeks, while foundation analysis may require 2–3 weeks. Permit approvals for major work can extend timelines by up to four weeks. Construction phases—such as foundation repair or beam replacement—often last from 1 to 12 weeks, depending on project complexity, local soil conditions, and seasonal weather delays common in this area.
