"Doug and his team did a terrific job building our new deck. We are very happy with how the entire project turned out. Doug is very easy to work with and the team is very hard working. The entire team are excellent craftsmen. The flower boxes and benches built for the deck look great! We would definitely recommend them for this type of project."

"I had the interior of my house painted and new carpet installed in 3 bedrooms. The carpet installers were excellent! Very precise and hard working. They moved out all the heavy furniture and put it all back in place when finished. Work was done in 3 hours. The painters did a great job! They were very nice men. I had one area that I wasn't really pleased with and Steve had Maricio come back a few days later and fix it at no extra charge. It looks fantastic now."

"Adam was incredible! I hired him after a family member failed miserably at building a new deck for us. He came in, listened to what I wanted, and then built exactly what I had envisioned only better. He truly is a master at his craft, and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to help correct the disaster we were stuck in. Hire him!!! You won’t be disappointed"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.

Begin by analyzing the blueprints and gathering the proper materials before framing a house. With the prep stages behind you, begin by framing the floor of a house on the newly set foundation. Exterior and interior walls come next, along with rough openings for doors and windows. Contractors will then add ceiling and roof rafters to finish things off.

New builds, remodels, and additions often necessitate professional framing expertise.

Yes, you will need a jack for a rim joist replacement. To prevent sagging and facilitate the removal of load-bearing wood, you’ll need to relieve the pressure from this joint before beginning work.

Due to hydraulics and other specialized equipment, a sill plate and rim joist replacement are not typically a DIY project. Hiring a professional structural engineer and experienced contractors is the best approach to replacing rotted sill plates and rim joists.

You can choose 5/8-inch plywood or 3/4-inch plywood—anything thinner than these sizes may not withstand the impact of debris propelled by strong winds or can be easily torn off by intruders. Remember that the durability of the wood board is crucial, particularly for safeguarding your windows during severe storms. The effectiveness of using wood boards for protecting the investment you made in your home relies on using the appropriate material and ensuring proper installation.
