"Danny's Pro Painters provides exceptionally high quality professional work at a very reasonable price. Danny Juarez's workers were very detailed and thorough. They spent 2 very laborious days hand sanding a previously stained spa deck. After they applied the final second coat of the new stain, the deck looked absolutely beautiful without any indication of the previous stain. Their 3rd day, staining the fence and a large bridge was equally as beautiful. After completion, Danny Juarez walked with me to review the completed work to make sure that I was completely satisfied. I strongly recommend Danny's Pro Painters for both their quality and value."

"We love our deck extension! They were able to add on to our existing deck and took on a huge project to extend it 50ft across! Carmel had a bunch of extra requirements but eventually we got the permit with extra additions and Maynor himself did a great job handling the changes and keeping us in the loop! Not only do we love the deck, but the work is high quality and they are all very hardworking individuals! We would definitely use them again and definitely recommend them!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Pressure-treated wood lasts at least 10 years, but with the right care and treatment, it can last as long as 40 years. Painting the boards is one way to increase the lifespan of pressure-treated wood. The layer of paint provides extra protection for the wood against the exterior elements and insects.

You don't need to seal your deck after painting it because most exterior paints are waterproof and weather-resistant. While stealing is not necessary, it can add an additional layer of protection.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

Yes, it is generally a very good idea to seal your deck after pressure washing. Power washing removes not only dirt and debris but also a thin layer of wood, leaving the surface exposed and more susceptible to weathering. Sealing is almost always needed after this process. After a general cleaning, sealing isn't automatically necessary if the existing sealant is still intact. You can test the surface by placing a few drops of water on it. If the water beads up, the sealant is working. If it soaks into the wood, it's time to apply a new sealant. If it has been a few years, it's wise to remove the old sealant, wash the deck, and reseal for maximum protection.

Whether you can paint over your existing paint depends on what’s on there. Most of the time, you’ll want to sand down or scrape off the paint that’s currently coating your surface. Epoxy paint, for example, won’t let new paint stick to the surface. Latex paint is more forgiving and will accept a new coat, but a primer is recommended if you’re switching colors.
