Customers say: Quality work

"Both my husband and I would like to express our appreciation for the excellent customer service provided by Keith (owner) when he completed a shower install for my mother. Following her bout with Covid, she needed to have her tub removed and have a shower installed. Keith met with us and helped us choose the perfect shower set-up and ensured all safety features were in place. He also agreed to do a last-minute toilet replacement using an ADA model. Overall, we were impressed with Keith and his assistant. His attention to detail and ensuring my mother had exactly what she needed was truly appreciated. We would highly recommend his services and we will use him for future projects!"

"Steve Winters was early to our appointment. He protected my bathroom floor. A total professional. He was efficient, thorough and I didn't have to clean up after he completed the toilet install. He disposed of the old toilet without dripping water everywhere. I plan to use his services again. An excellent plumber who exhibits pride in a job well done. I'm very pleased."

"Hope Plumbing came out on Wednesday for a toilet repair. We believed the toilet to be leaking from the tank bolts, so Domenic replaced the tank bolts and also (3) valves within the bathroom, installed a Delta faucet and installed a new flapper in our other bathroom toilet. After testing the repair repeatedly, Domenic left for the day. We discovered yet another leak right after he left our house, and we contacted Hope Plumbing who put us in contact with Domenic. He was not very far down the road and was gracious enough to turn around and help with this new problem. Upon inspection of the toilet, we decided it could not be fixed (a small crack in the front of the bowl) , so he arranged to have a new toilet installed the next day. He came back the next morning with a new toilet, took the old toilet away, and the installation went very smooth and quick. We will hire Hope Plumbing for our future repairs!"

"Great experience. They were able to work me in the same day. Took a look at the ceiling below the leak and started with the toilet. Quickly determined the toilet was not the issue. Moved to the shower spout which was the issue. Rather than ordering the part, made a quick trip to the hardware store to find the part. Had the issue fixed in no time."

"We had a sewer pipe that had broken where it meant the cleanout valve near the house. After digging, we discovered, the pipe coming in from the street was not level with the pipe into the house but about 6-12 inches lower. Mark did a good job of assessing that the waste water was still running well and agreed to fix the cleanout valve and up to 8 feet of the sewer pipe. This fixed the problem as the old pipe had bent about 6 feet back. Mark was very quick in coming out to provide his estimates, and actually came out twice himself in addition to his lead crewman. Work was scheduled and completed within a few days. Great work. Would highly recommend."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Common problems include leaks, clogs, and running water. Regular maintenance prevents most issues.

Yes, a toilet, sink, and shower can share the same vent. This is a common plumbing practice that can simplify installation and save space. When sharing a vent, it's important that the toilet is located downstream from all other fixtures. You will also need to ensure the vent pipe is large enough to handle the demands of all connected fixtures without compromising its effectiveness. Because requirements can vary, you should always check your local building and plumbing codes. Consulting a qualified plumber is recommended to ensure the vent is properly sized, installed, and adheres to all local regulations.

Basement toilets don’t always need a pump. However, it is the most common setup because plumbing systems use gravity to move waste away from the home. Basement toilets often sit below the home’s main sewage system, and installing a sewage ejector pump pushes the wastewater and sewage up to the main sewer line. Alternatively, you can use an upflush or macerator toilet that breaks down the waste and pushes it straight to the main sewer line rather than via a sewer line from the bathroom.

Most toilets weigh between 50 and 100 pounds, depending on the material, size, and style. Some toilets can be disassembled into multiple pieces, which can make them easier to carry and dispose of. If you’re concerned that a toilet is too heavy to remove and lift on your own, enlist help or use a dolly to support the weight rather than carrying it yourself.

Whether or not a power-flush toilet is worth it depends on your toilet needs and your budget. If your bathroom sees a lot of use or you’re concerned about the toilet clogging, then a power-flush toilet may be the right choice. You should also check the pressure requirements to make sure your system can handle the necessary requirements.
