Customers say: Quick response

"Alex and Mario took on a very complicated rebuild of my floors and subfloors due to extensive water damage. The results are exceptional! I will have them back shortly to perform sanding, stain and sealing to the upstairs wood flooring to match to finish the special touches they provide - Thank you from the bottom of my heart"

"Floor Tailor is a small company with incredible expertise, service and commitment to complete customer satisfaction. We had them do a relatively small job (basement stairs) and they treated us like we were their biggest customer. Now, we are getting ready to carpet the rest of the house and put down hardwood floors in other areas. We will not talk to anyone else but CHUCK at Floor Tailor!"

"The entire process went pretty well. Bob (sales) called ahead of the appointed time in order to arrive early (yea!), and the installation team (JJ and two younger guys) arrived a bit earlier than expected (yea!). They quickly moved my big furniture and removed the old carpeting and pad. About seven hours later I had brand new carpeting to walk on! After I thoroughly vacuumed the new carpeting I didn't find any real problems except for one visible "seam peak" in the main floor area (and I believe this may become less visible over time)."

"IC Custom Hardwood Flooring, one of the best flooring companies in Illinois! Very professional, polite, and always open and straightforward for discussion concerning prices, materials, labor, and everything you might have in mind about your custom hardwood floor, that you will want to swap, renew or color change. The professional team is highly trained to take care of every little detail ie: covering and protecting different objects that are found at the sight, if they will need to temporarily remove or move anything, they will make sure everything is back in place the same way they find it before the job has started, they will not take brakes once the job has started, they constantly working to get you to step as soon as possible on your new ( newly renovated ) hardwood floor that you have might choose. They are using the most professional tools and materials to get a job perfectly done! Calin is highly trained as well and very professional and polite, he will walk you through the entire process, will demonstrate and help you pick the right package, material, or color that you might like or wish, he will even walk you through the maintenance of your new floor after the job is done, he will help you understand for example, what humidity you will need to keep your floor fresh for the longest period of time, also he could give you tips and tricks on keeping it clean and neat! Very impressed! Recommend them to everyone I know or everyone that I will come across and are interested in the most reliable trustworthy and professional hardwood floor company! A+++ for IC CUSTOM HARDWOOD FLOORING Inc"

"Floor Coverings International gave us a good value for the pricing. Our floors are older, at least 50 years old, and to make them perfect would require replacement. We know this because we obtained multiple bids, some that were only verbal and one that wanted to cover one area with a newer, non wood flooring material. Floor Covering International did business in a consise and clear manner, working with and explaining the entire process. We will definately call them if we consider refinishing our other wood flooring."

"

We have used Exposition Carpet for several carpet installations over many years in our finished basement, and have consistently found the best pricing, ease of schedule and quality installation thru them. I especially like that it's a family business and you are dealing directly with owners and not with a salesman that doesn't even know who his/her boss is. The installers have worked their for years and that says a lot.

After going through a back porch remodel enclosing to a mudroom, we wanted a pet friendly, water resistant and durable floor so we went with vinyl plank. The store had many options, and time frame to get material was within a week. We checked out a 'sale' prior at a trendy well known Lincoln Avenue store, only to be met with double the cost and attitude. So we ended up back at Exposition and it was a done deal within 2 weeks.

I thought I had reviewed them on AL, but realized I hadn't when the list asked if members had any feedback.

We wouldn't hesitate to use them for any flooring needs.

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

While it may not always be ideal, you can fix a squeaky floorboard without removing the carpet. Pros use specialized carpet screws and drive them through the carpet into the subfloor, securing floorboards. They may also use nails instead of screws if they suspect the pile will get caught in the screw. While some types of carpet will hide the screws and nails, a low-pile carpet may not.

The costs range from $3 to $10 per square foot, depending on the carpet type, labor, and subfloor preparation.

Yes, in most cases, you can use furniture sliders on carpeting. However, it’s best to seek out furniture sliders that are specifically meant for carpeting, or a larger size of slider that the furniture won’t slip off of as easily. Many varieties of furniture sliders are versatile enough to use on carpeting, hardwood, or tile floors.

Because cork flooring has a low-impact feel and is water-resistant, it is a good choice for kitchens. It makes standing to chop vegetables and stir soup for long periods of time feel much easier on your feet and legs. But keep in mind that spills can cause cork to swell if they sit for too long, so if you’re a messy home chef, keep plenty of towels nearby to keep your cork floors in good condition.

There are many different types of carpets for you to choose from. When choosing a carpet, it’s essential to consider the following:

  • Fiber: Describes what your carpet is made of, such as polyester, wool, nylon, or acrylic.

  • Pile type: Explains how your carpet looks. Your carpet fibers can be looped, twisted, cut, or woven.

  • Pile height: Describes the length of your carpet. You can choose a low, medium, or high pile.

  • Density: Refers to how close yarn fibers are to each other.
