We had a very professional team come out to our condo to have flooring installed. No problems what so ever. Everything was done professionally from tearing up old carpeting to tearing up old linoleum floors. I tell you these guys are on the mark. GREAT JOB to the crew that worked on our floors. THANK YOU !!!! You can’t find service like this anywhere !!!!

It was easy to work with Sherlock's. Don, the sales advisor, was knowledgeable and kept us informed of dates after we picked out our carpet. The installation went smoothly. Everything turned out great.

Overall it was okay. The person I got to work with is a personal recommendation of a friend. I was crazy about the wood installer but the end result seems to be fine. The tile guy was here first and had to take quarter rounds out to take the tiles down and damaged some of the quarter round but just put it back because that was all he was supposed to do. But when the wood guy came, I already talked to my representative at the company and said that I want to have this quarter round fixed and said that they could do that. Then he talked to the wood guy and he was kind of resistant about getting it done and then he agreed. Then I realized that he hadn't addressed it, he just painted over it. There is still a piece of scratch there and I can see the crack. The wood guy also opened up a box of wood that he didn't have to open so there was a question for a while whether I could get a refund for it because he didn't use any of the wood. And I ended up getting the refund so that's a positive. Overall, I am happy with the way things worked out. It was okay. Considering all the things that can go on, the guy did okay.

I was assisted by John Trela, sales adviser at the Orland Park store. As I was looking for carpeting that would not show dirt patterns and would stand up to a jumpy Jack Russell, I needed someone who could steer me in the right direction. Mr. Trela was happy to do that and I selected carpeting, albeit a remnant, that was not only high quality but reasonably priced.

Installation was a breeze. Two installers came out, moved my furniture, cleaned the underlayment and installed new padding and carpet. I could not be more pleased with their work. NO fibers left behind, no wrinkles and they vacuumed before they left. All this in about 2 hrs. It is not often that I received attentive service from start to finish no matter what I pay. They were GREAT!

Previously, I had priced carpeting in all of the 'big box stores' and confirmed my suspicions. You can buy basically the same products, but do not expect knowledge and service. Sherlock's delivered on the great carpeting and on the great service.

Found out after the fact that the job was extremely over priced.  Sub-contractors (Stanley Marble and Glass) did a great job, but could have avoided the middle man and saved lots of cash.  Poor responsiveness by phone or email.

Saleswoman asked how much we could spend and took us to one product said we would love it.  I asked specifically about foot prints and vacuum marks.  She said any carpet would show  a few footprints or vacuum marks and this would be no different.  After my 60+ years on this earth I already knew this.  WOW! - This Karastan product is horrible.  I was lied to about the  product or she had never seen it installed. The night it was installed I cried so hard - I called the store immediately and the owner came over the next morning.  He admitted to me that there have been other complaints, which he now denies.  This story is so long I can't even type it out. I'm out $5000 and he says it's my fault - I think his salespeople should know their products and their clients before selling. Saleswoman came out to my house and said " It's liking walking on sand". Owner will replace, but they have no other product in the store with the same color or a texture suitable.  He refuses to put another Smartstand product in my house.  I have been told that my warranty covers all Mohawk products - I was not offered this possibility - only Karastan.  So this owner pockets  my money and I give his carpet to charity. After many meetings, my being berated and chastised,  I'm moving on and cutting my losses. He will say that I had the sample and there is nothing wrong with the product.  I loved the color and the feel - but I can't live with every mark showing up and that should have been explained to me.  I don't know if there is a defect, but I need some type of satisfaction for my loss.  Stay away from this business and Karastan - especially the 'Essential Living'  line which he says is their best selling.  No one could live with his and be happy - especially in a living room or dining room.  I don't want anyone else to have to endure and go through the misery I have gone through.  Buyer Beware!  Do business elsewhere!  PLEASE!

"2/4/11 [Member] began shopping in our store on or before this date which time she took home 3 different styles of Karastan Carpet one of which was the style she eventually purchased. Our Sales Advisor Joan a certified interior designer worked with her. 2/14/11 [Member] returned to our store and Tom ( a 25 year veteran in carpet sales) worked with her and she took home more styles of Karastan Carpet one of which she eventually purchased. 2/17/11 Our Sales Advisor Joan went to the [member's] home to conduct a free measure. 2/21/11 [Member] again took a large 27" x 48" sample of Karastan Essential Living, Cresent Moon home. 2/21/11 During this week [member] brought a sample in from a competitor's store that was very similar to the Karastan Essential Living carpet for comparison. She explained to your Sales Advisor Joan that she wants a carpet similar to the sample brought in. 2/28/11 [Member] purchased Karastan Essential Living Cresent Moon made her decision, gave a deposit and signed the sales order. 3/28/11 Carpet was professionally installed. 3/29/11 [Member] called the store to say she was very unhappy with her carpet. 3/30/11 I am the owner of Sherlock's Carpet & Tile and went to [member's] home to see what the issue was. [Member] stated that she did not like the way the carpet looked and was having trouble using her vacuum on it. I apologized that she was not happy with her choice of carpet and told her the carpet didn't seem to have any defect however it did have a 90 Day Satisfaction Warranty that would allow her to have it replaced for free (excluding labor). She stated she would think about ti and wanted to know how much the labor would be to replace her carpet. I called her later in the day to let her know that it would cost $650.00 for the labor to replace her carpet. 3/30/11 From this day to present date our company has gone out of our way to try to satisfy [member]. We have been to her home several times and she has been in our store several times. We have ordered samples and explored all options available to us. Throughout this process [member] has consistently made threats to condemn our business on the internet and on certain days she has also been polite and thankful at times. I have asked [member] on more than one occasion to please stop threatening my company and myself. I am disappointed that [member] has found it necessary to slander my company when we have tried so hard to satisfy her. I still believe we can satisfy [member] with Karastan High Sierra or Vittoria. In Summary: [Member] was indecisive in making her decision. She took plenty of time to make her decision. She was able to walk on and experience the carpet samples in her home prior to her decision. She gave a deposit on a special order material. We ordered what she chose and now she would like to change her mind. We have sold over 35,000 square feed of the same carpet to many satisfied customers in the last 18 months since it's introduction to the market. We have given her the opportunity to choose. I again would like to offer [member] the choice to reselect a carpet from the 100's of samples we have and allow her to enjoy her new purchase. Please contact me directly if you have any further questions or concerns."

I had ripped up all old carpet off our stairs and upper landing in preparation for installing oak. Previous builder clear coated the oak stricngers AFTER the installation of the original carpet, so there's additional work for me to have to sand down the straingers and re-clear coat after the new oak is installed! WHO DOES THAT? In any case, I chose Sherlock from reading some reviews and their proximity to my residence. I visited the store for the first time near the end of July. From the moment I walked in to Sherlock's store and spoke with Joan McCall I was impressed. We hit it off immediately and she was so helpful and knowledgable in helping us make a choice for our stairs. She came out that same Sunday afternoon, on her way home from work, to take measurements of our stairs and sketch up a plan for estimating costs. She was funny and engaging and it was very enjoyable to speak with her. My background is in design and architecture so it was nice that we were on common ground and had a natural rapport. We'd taken home 2 color samples of the oak we were contemplating. By the time she came to measure we'd already made our color choice. A week later we placed the order and installation started on August 10 lasting 2 days. Scott and Tom were fabulous and engaging as well. If I had a question they would answer it. If I wanted to stand and watch they were OK with that too! They fixed the squeak on the stairs that was almost as exciting as the installation of the oak itself! They showed up when they said they would and cleaned up before they left. I can not begin to say how enjoyable the experience was from beginning to end, other than to say it twice! The process was painless and I would and will definitely go back for future projects.

The poor installation by the original sub-contractor was the single bad part of this experience and only one component of the ''overall experience'', tho it caused such a massive problem and subsequent delays that it's difficult to separate it out from the otherwise positive components. Once the flooring had been installed (and damaged), there was no perfect solution. Sherlock's immediately assured me that they would back their installation guarantee, allowed me to choose between the various options (including replacement), and worked with me to make it right. Aside from the original installer (who they no longer use), everyone I worked with (sales advisor Kim Deloriea, customer service representative Tim Kay, Churlin Flooring) was great. I cannot ding this company because of one bad sub-contractor. If it weren't for him, I would rate this company A's across the board. I found a company with exceptional customer service, and I would use them again.

SALESPERSON WAS VERY HELPFUL, STRAIGHT FORWARD WITH INFORMATION, AND ESTIMATES. THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE WHICH ALLOWED ME TO PURCHASE A HIGHER GRADE CARPET THAN I ORIGINALLY PLANNED. THE INSTALLERS WERE ON TIME, POLITE, AND DID A GOOD JOB. I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN AND WILL RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS.
