"From the very beginning I was thoroughly pleased with everyone I worked with, Salesman, window removal and re-installation of new windows by craftsman and everyone involved! If I had a question concerning the contract or installation questions, all were answered in a timely manner to me by my Salesman, Steve Churma. He was well versed in the product as well as all of the procedures necessary for this project and that was truly appreciated. I would recommend this company to anyone that might require new windows at any time."

"It went perfectly. Ivan and his team delivered what he said and it turned out better than we expected. He didn’t cut corners and made suggestions to make it better. We had a unique project. We had a deck above our front door rebuilt but the contractor did not finish the work underneath. We needed a ceiling put in, trim and a wood-box outline to complete the look. He also painted it. It was a two day project. They cleaned up nicely. Up to the start date, Ivan would text me with updates as to where we were on his list. I appreciated the constant contact."

"Great Company. Fast Efficiant work. Shawn the Window Technician was great, and Devan who was helping him install and we learned that he was actually a Production Manager. Both were great. "We had been in the market for new windows on the back of our house for some time but just had not made a decision due to the number of windows, the cost and indecisiveness in design. When a Rogue Golf Ball shattered one of our windows we were forced to make a decision. We contacted The Chicago Window Guys after seeing the spectacular work they did for my Neighbours home. I was connected with Mark who present us with a lot of options but made it very easy to make a decision with out being overwhelmed. The area of our house which we had re-windowed was very odd as it was 2 stories of 10 sliding glass doors in the 4 season room (5 on top and 5 on the bottom) installed by the original owner. Mark presented us with some great options. Once we came to a decision the work was scheduled and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Mark was always available to answer questions, the gentleman that measured the windows was on time, speedy and had a great customer service persona. The guys installing were friendly, professional and cleaned up after themselves. I have more windows to replace and will be calling Chicago Window guys when that time comes. We also decided to have them do some of my other doors and will use them for many other projects in the future. I even told all my neighbours how good the work was. Several neighbours have since had them do work on their home as well. Besides the windows which we love we also had a back door replaced. Our 4 season room is no longer cold and drafty in the winter and we are so happy for the work. We have held several family functions in this room including a large Thanksgiving and Christmas gathering – which we would have never been able to do previously. Thank you Chicago Window Guys!"

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Contrary to popular belief, wavy glass in older homes isn't caused by warping. The blowing technique used to create windows in homes dating back to the 1700s, 1800s, and early 1900s left behind small bubbles that create a wavy effect. If a glass window is functional, there's no need to consider wavy glass damaged. In fact, many homeowners prefer the old charm of wavy glass.

Yes, you can resilver old mirrors without any issues, and in many cases, it’s is the only way to maintain and preserve old, antique mirrors. Resilvering involves stripping the old silver off of the mirror, replacing the silver, and adding a protective backing to the glass. The process costs around $15 per square foot of glass, making it a relatively inexpensive solution for making older mirrors functional again. You can buy a DIY resilvering kit, but we strongly recommend hiring a professional to avoid additional damage and mistakes.

The best (and safest) glass for glass walls is tempered and laminated glass. These types of glasses work well for walls because they are durable against impact and heat.

Yes, it is possible to replace only the glass pane in a window without replacing the entire frame. However, this is a complex task that is best handled by a window repair professional. A technician can safely cut the seal, remove the old glass, install the new pane, and ensure it is properly sealed. For double-pane windows, this process involves creating a vacuum between the panes and filling it with insulative gas to restore the window's energy efficiency. Hiring a professional also ensures you select the right type of glass for your needs. This repair is almost always more affordable than replacing the entire window and frame.

Start by attaching the mirror to a wall stud if possible. Next, use appropriate hardware for the mirror's size and the wall material. That could look like drywall anchors, toggle bolts, or self-drilling anchors to ensure a strong hold. Additionally, D-rings or hanging brackets are more secure than a nail. You can also use mirror adhesive to secure small or larger mirrors with a vanity as a base.
