The electricians arrived on time, explained the work clearly, and completed everything efficiently and safely. They were respectful of my home, cleaned up after themselves, and made sure I was completely satisfied with the results. "Project was done quickly. Price was higher that others, but I hired them because they could address my issue immediately that same day. I had a small fire in my electrical box and needed the box and breakers replaced. Tech was knowledgeable and nice work work with and provided updates as he worked. He finished the job within a few hours. Reason for 4 stars instead of 5…price was high. Also, I came home the day after the job was done and my furnace was off and my washer/dryer breaker was tripped. Haven’t determined the cause yet, but will provide an update once I figure it out or have Precision back out to check things."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Upgrading your electrical panel is often worth the cost for safety, improved electrical performance, and potential long-term savings. A primary benefit is preventing electrical fires and other hazards from a malfunctioning panel, ensuring your household's safety. An upgraded panel also provides a steady flow of electricity, eliminating issues like flickering lights and frequently tripped breakers. It allows you to connect additional appliances without overloading the system, which is especially beneficial for older homes with 100-amp service that are prone to overheating. If you run large appliances like central air conditioning, heating systems, hot tubs, or saunas, you might consider upgrading to a 300- or 400-amp service to meet the higher electrical demand. Furthermore, an upgrade can lead to long-term savings on energy bills and potentially lower insurance costs.

Unfortunately, a partial power outage without a tripped breaker often means you have a major wiring issue or that the breaker itself is going bad. When the power is out in one room but the breaker is not tripped, you need to call an electrician as soon as possible to identify the cause of the problem and repair it.

Most new homes have coax outlets in every room. A home can require anywhere from one to five outlets based on how many rooms require internet, cable, or satellite access. If you want to mount your TV on a wall as part of a home renovation, consider installing a new outlet to avoid the need for a splitter or long cable that could slow down speeds.

Yes, the majority of appliances that run at 240v will work with a 220v outlet, but will often run slower and may have a slight delay in turning on. This could also cause long term damage to the appliance being used, so it’s recommended to always use the correct voltage for your appliance and upgrade to a 240v outlet if needed.

If your thermostat does not have a C-wire, you can hire a professional to check for an abandoned C-wire hidden in the wall, install a new C-wire, repurpose an existing G-wire to function as a C-wire, or purchase a C-wire adapter kit.

There are some smart thermostat models that do not require a C-wire, but this will limit the functionality of the smart technology.
