"We recently replaced our Heating & Cooling system with a energy efficient furnace & air-conditioning unit. We knew what we wanted, so I received bids from 4 different suppliers, receiving bids for a apples to apples comparison. All-Temp was by far the best pricing. Our installation process went flawlessly & the installers answered any question that I had. They came back out to our home per my request on a couple more occasions, to adjust the amount of time the 2 stage system ran. Everyone that we have dealt with has been extremely professional, courteous & knowledgeable. We just received a clean & check of our system & Jen our technician met each of those attributes. I would highly recommend All-Temp for any of your heating or cooling needs. Herb Pitzman Huntley, IL"

"Replaced the original AC Unit(at least 25yr old), added a new humidifier to furnace and a new smart thermostat. The original guy who did repair work, Phil, was knowledgeable but at the end of the day wanted to sell anything he can. He had convinced me I was able to get rebates through ComEd for upgrading AC unit and adding the smart thermostat. At this time, I have been unable to get any rebates because he failed to mention I need to also have a furnace that qualifies and there was no receipts on the thermostat to claim that rebate. The day of the install, the guys that were here, did great work. They installed everything and added a damper to furnace(which does not work that great). When the guy installed the thermostat, he installed the wrong one and i had to show him the work order for the correct one. He left and it took a week for him to return to install the correct one. He also left with all the boxes."

"Friendly reliable owners and staff. Work was completed when scheduled and professionally. New AC was installed with furnace. Since it was cold out, I was assured They will check outside condenser unit in the spring. Comforting to work with a good company."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

This depends on the extent of the freezing. Some ACs only need an hour or two to thaw out, but others may need a full day to completely unfreeze. Once you turn off the system to let it unfreeze, check it periodically to make sure the drain pan doesn’t overflow. When you turn the system back on, keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t start freezing again.

Window ACs use 500 to 1,400 watts per hour of electricity, while mini-splits use 500 to 700 watts per hour. However, if you need to cool multiple zones in your house, your mini-split can use as much as 2,000 watts per hour. How often you run your system will impact how much electricity you use (and how much you pay per month).

Replacing an HVAC system does not always include new ductwork. The decision depends on the condition of your existing ducts. If they are in good shape, correctly sized for the new unit, and meet current standards, they can often be reused. However, if the ducts are damaged, poorly designed, or improperly sized, they will likely need to be replaced or upgraded to ensure the new system operates efficiently. An HVAC contractor will assess your ductwork and recommend the best course of action. Typically, ductwork is purchased separately, and a full replacement will add to the overall project cost.

You can run an HRV with air conditioning—assuming that you decide to keep the system on during the summer. The HRV will continue to bring in fresh outdoor air, which will then flow into your AC unit and cool down your home. It will also keep moving the stuffy indoor air out of your house.

Mold in your air conditioner isn't a good thing, as it can be harmful to your health. If the mold travels through the ductwork or is blown out of the A/C, you and your family can inhale mold spores and develop respiratory illnesses and other problems. Preventing mold from growing in the air conditioner will help protect your health.
