"Everything worked like clockwork. My contact Bradley was very communicative, available and understanding throughout the entire process, as were the crew, during the job. I was very happy with the process and the work done, and along the way, each step in the process was fully explained to me. I felt listened to and heard - each person I spoke with accurately addressed my thoughts, concerns and needs. I felt everyone involved in my roof repair, from Bradley, to the office personne,l and the roofing foreman and crew, addressed and fully discussed all my questions and needs, quickly and to my 100% satisfaction. I also felt respected and valued as the homeowner. I appreciate the good care and excellent product I received in exchange for this, which is a major expense for a homeowner."

"We worked with Chuck O'Rourke, he was easy to deal with.Paul and Luke did a great job on replacing the siding, it looks great. Clean up was professional. Due to the weather we did have to wait for the opportunity to get the siding done, but all in all,we are pleased with the work. Would recommend them to anyone who needs work done on their home."

"John Garelli gave me the estimate along with much of the design ideas I needed. They did the John-Hardie board siding, windows, doors and are painting the exterior brick when the weather permits. They are great at keeping me informed of the the progress of the job and always on time and courteous. They answered all my questions and concerns. Nicest contractors I have ever dealt with. Price-wise, they were excellent and did quality work."

"My husband and I recently had Ridgetop Roofing complete a roofing and siding job on our home, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, their communication was amazing and I’m extremely busy to that was important to me. I always knew what was happening and when. The crew’s attention to detail and cleanliness on the job site went above and beyond my expectations. Everything and I mean everything was spotless when they finished. Our house looks absolutely stunning now, and we’ve received so many compliments on the work. There was a slight mixup and I had to connect with the branch manager but he was professional, friendly, timely and genuinely committed to making sure everything was perfect. Even with that minor mixup, we would highly recommend Ridgetop Roofing to anyone looking for top-quality workmanship and outstanding service!"

Siding questions, answered by experts

Some homeowners use caulk on the edges of clapboard siding to help seal it. However, this method invites new problems. With so many gaps sealed, clapboard siding is often unable to drain properly and moisture from rain or other sources can build up inside. This can lead to rot and other issues over time. When repairing clapboards, it’s best to avoid caulking the final product. The exception is trim around windows and doors, which should be caulked to avoid moisture problems.

Stucco is considered a type of cladding because it includes a built-in ventilation layer, a weatherproof membrane beneath that, and, often, a layer of insulation to improve building efficiency. The multiple layers of stucco—the scratch coat, the brown coat, and the finish coat—also create a more complex building membrane, so it’s more accurate to call it cladding. However, homeowners and contractors alike refer to stucco as siding.

For homeowners looking for a less expensive alternative to metal siding, the most popular choice is vinyl siding. At just $3 to $12 per square foot, vinyl siding can cost much less than some types of metal siding. Other popular alternatives include fiber cement and engineered wood. Consult a local siding contractor to determine which type of siding will work best for your home.

The average cost to install stucco siding on a home is around $5,700, with most homeowners paying between $2,200 and $9,100. However, the total cost can range from $750 to as high as $22,750 depending on several factors. On average, you can expect to pay between $7 and $9 per square foot. Key cost factors include the size and complexity of your home, the desired color and texture, labor and material costs in your area, and whether you have a multi-story home. Specific applications have different costs, such as adding stucco over brick ($7 per square foot) or over wood siding ($8.50 per square foot). To save money, you can consider removing the old siding yourself or scheduling the installation during the off-season.

If you have stucco on the outside of your home, it’s technically considered cladding and not siding, but beyond that, it’s impossible to tell without a little digging. Without damaging the siding material, expose part of it to see if there’s an air gap between the siding and your exterior wall. If there is, you have cladding. If the siding is affixed directly to the exterior wall, you have a simple siding system.
