"Our backup sump pump alarm went off and I called Jake. He said it could be that the main sump was being overworked due to the heavy rains. He came out to check it. No pressure on his part to purchase a new one. We went ahead and had him install a new one. He was very professional. Left the work area clean. His fee was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend him to others."

"Paul from PSP came to do the job and was freaking awesome. He found the issue quickly and explained what was needed. The plumber that was out yesterday couldn't get this done. I'm grateful for Paul and adding PSP to my contacts to use at my business for any further plumbing needs."

Customers say: True professional

"I was getting quotes on flood control systems for my basement and Charlie was one of the 3 I called. Of the three, he was the only one to offer me options. Charlie spent a considerable amount of time explaining the different systems available and made suggestions on the best possible and cost efficient one suitable for my basement. He recommended that I try using a stand pipe since it seemed that a stand pipe was used before. He suggested that I have a camera run through the buildings main sewer line first to find out what type of pipe I have (cast iron or clay) and what condition it's in. Charlie did not charge for the hour of discussion. A few days later I had Charlie come and run the camera through the buildings main sewer line. Charlie explained in detail what we were seeing on the monitor. The price was fair for the time spent and the reassurance that the sewer line was in good condition. Based on what we saw in the camera and Charlies recommendation I decided to try the standpipe. I had him come back a third time. He rethreaded an existing hole were the old standpipe used to be and then installed a new 5' standpipe. It took less than an hour and the price was ok (much less than any other system). A few days later we had a 2 day rainfall and the standpipe actually worked! (I had my doubts). A rain like that would normally mean water gushing into the basement from the old standpipe hole."

"Cleared up clogged kitchen sink, installed new kitchen faucet, repaired hardware in tub that connects shower and faucet, showed me how to clean jacuzzi, and will return to replace toilet tank mechanism. They were fast, cleaned up after each job and showed us how everything works. We were very impressed."

"Patrick was slightly late due to another job and he needed to wait for the pump that another driver had. However, once it got here he thoroughly explained everything he was doing and why. I really appreciated that. He worked quickly and professionally but didn't really do much in the way of cleanup. I will definitely use him again."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump can be plugged into a regular, 110-volt outlet with three-prong openings, but it must have GFCI protections per the NEC, meaning you’ll need a GFCI outlet and circuit. Sump pumps require two outlet openings, one for the plug to the motor and one for the float switch.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

A sump pump battery backup can typically run for 6 to 24 hours. The factors that affect its runtime include the battery capacity and pump usage.

When purchasing your backup system, take these factors into consideration to determine which system is best for your home. If you live in an area with frequent and long-lasting power outages, consider a longer-lasting backup battery.

Repairs typically take 1-2 hours, while replacements, depending on accessibility, may require up to 4 hours.

The most common cause of a clogged sump pump is natural debris buildup. As water enters the sump pit, it can carry small pieces of debris that build up over time, or the debris can get caught in the filter. If you forget to cover the pit after cleaning the sump pump and pit, debris can also collect in the pit. Corrosion on the metal discharge pipe can also clog the pump. Additionally, if your pipes freeze, it can prevent water from draining properly and cause a clog.
