"They showed up on time. calling 45 minutes beforehand to verify appointment. They quickly inspected the chimney and told me what the problem was and the recommended treatment. I asked a few questions and asked them to perform a test with a hose to insure that what they were saying was correct. They did so and the water leak did appear. They did the repair work at that time and inspected on more thing before they left. We have had a couple of rain storms since the repair with no leakage. They were polite, courteous, and on time. I was also given a discount for being a veteran, which I had not asked for but received when the tech noticed the license plate on my car. I would definitely use them again without hesitation."

"They came to inspect a couple of chimneys we believed were non-functional. They were able to schedule something quickly, did a thorough job at a fair price, and we were happy with their work!"

"I recently had the pleasure of working with Defender Chimney, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the initial inspection to the completed work, their team was professional, knowledgeable, and punctual. They took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my questions, and made sure I understood the process before getting started. The quality of their work was outstanding, and they left the area spotless when they were finished. It’s refreshing to find a company that truly values customer service and takes pride in their craftsmanship. If you’re looking for reliable, honest, and skilled chimney professionals, I highly recommend Defender Chimney. I’ll definitely be using them again for future maintenance and inspections."

"Mario did a detailed inspection and quote. I had three companies bid out the job and he was the only one concerned with the condition of my chimney liner. Turns out the chimney liner was full of holes, potentially a safety issue. If I had hired the other companies that would not have been addressed. Quality of the work was great, always showed up on time and left the job site clean. Main office staff was friendly and easy to get ahold of. If there were any changes they always communicated it ahead of time. The new grout blended in perfectly, chimneys look much better. I also appreciated they offered crown coat, my crowns were in bad shape and look much nicer after using crown coat. They even fixed up some stuff on my brick lamp post."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

A roof certification is a bit like a warranty, but it doesn’t involve the installation of a roof. You will receive a roof certification after a roof repair job. The roofer gives you a limited warranty, guaranteeing the work for a period of time, usually a year or more. This can be helpful if you’re trying to sell your home after completing roof repair work.

The roof warranty is part of a new roof installation. It protects you against defects in the materials for usually 20 years or more. Many roof installers include workmanship warranties, which protect you against installation errors, for about five years or more.

Yes, materials like cool roofs and solar shingles may be considered.

If your roof has a vapor barrier, you will need approximately one square foot of roof vent for every 300 square feet of ceiling space. If there is no vapor barrier, the roof should have one square foot of roof vent for every 150 square feet of ceiling space. If you are not comfortable making this determination, a local roofing professional can help.

Properly installed chimney flashing can last anywhere from 15 to 50 years. However, flashing generally only needs to be replaced when it is damaged, corroded, or no longer creates a watertight seal. Several factors influence its longevity, including the material type, quality of installation, and local climate. For example, copper flashing tends to last longer than galvanized steel. Large storms and extreme weather can also damage flashing, potentially requiring earlier replacement. To ensure its longevity, it is recommended to have your chimney and roof inspected annually. A professional can assess the flashing's condition and recommend any necessary repairs.

The most common slope range for roofs on houses in snowy areas is between 4/12 and 6/12, or 50%. A roof with a slope of less than 10%, or roughly a 2/12 pitch, won’t be effective at shedding snow. However, roofs that are too steep can allow large amounts of snow to build up and fall all at once, creating a hazard for those on the ground.
