Small jobs welcome

"It is worth noting that Pillar to Post Home Inspectors provide all 3 inspections--termite, radon, and home. They made the process easy for me and completed all 3 inspections for less than their competitors charge for only a home inspection. I have already recommended them to others."

"HomeSpecs did an amazing Inspection report. It's a shame I could not hire them also for an Appraisal because the lender chooses their own at a much higher price. Very professional report with photos allowed me to negotiate a credit from the seller. Eugene was so great to work with, very responsive on short notice and detailed. A++++++++++++++"

"I had storm damage on my roof that had caused my ceiling to collapse in places. After reviewing different companies I chose three and filled out online submissions for quotes. Within an hour Tom had contacted me and gathered all the general information. The other two companies never responded at all. The next day Wes showed up and inspected our roof and ceilings. He took photographs and covered everything with me. The next day Tom sent me some of the photos saying it looked like a great opportunity for homeowners insurance to cover some of the damage. I had not even considered that. Tom walked me through the insurance claim and also dealing with the insurance company which was not always easy. In the end insurance covered practically everything. The work was flawless by the crews who worked on my house. New roof, new vinyl siding with fascia and trim. New gutters. My house completely transformed. Bob the Builder is Amazing!"

"Marcus was great in the inspection of my roof, explaining where the issues were, sending me copies of the photos so I can forward for possible insurance, and explaining in full every component needed for the roof to be done properly. Joe communicated timely with me on when the crew would arrive. They got here right on time. They were very thorough and professional, and the cleaned up extremely well. The roof looks great one less thing I'll need to worry about for a long time. Price was very reasonable and right in line with what I had calculated on my own. I would highly recommend this company."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

The small lines on the tape measure either indicate inches, fractions of an inch, or centimeters and millimeters. On the imperial unit side (aka the inches side), the longest lines indicate inches, followed by the next shortest lines that indicate a half-inch, and then the quarter, eighth, and sixteenth-inch. On the metric side, the lines break down meters, centimeters, and millimeters.

While it’s not mandatory unless you’re purchasing a home, it is important to schedule regular home electrical inspections for safety and to maintain your house’s value. Inspections can reduce fire risk and can help save money on insurance premiums. They can also catch problems before they start, saving money on repairs down the line.

Hiring a reliable home builder is an essential task, but there are a few questions you can ask a potential builder to ensure you they are trustworthy and up to the task:

  • How long do you expect the process to take?

  • Are you fully licensed and insured?

  • How much of the work will you subcontract?

  • Will you pull all of the necessary permits for the job?

  • How long is the builder’s warranty you include with your work?

  • How do you handle resolution for issues I might have with the finished product?

  • How much experience do you have?

Many experts agree on a twice-yearly schedule for DIY foundation checks and professional inspections every one to three years, depending on the condition of your foundation. Visually checking your foundation twice a year will ensure that it is not damaged during severe summer or winter weather events. Extreme temperature changes impact the soil surrounding the foundation, as do lengthy rain storms. Both issues expose the foundation to excessive moisture, which is not good for its overall health and stability. Call a pro if you notice any damage or changes during your DIY check.

An annual inspection can ensure that a fireplace is in proper working order to avoid fire hazards and the release of carbon monoxide into the home. Not all fireplace issues, especially blockages, are easily visible from inside or outside the home, which is why a professional must conduct a thorough internal inspection of all of the fireplace and chimney components.
