"Ross called back within 30 minutes and set up an appointment for the same week at my convenience. He was extremely professional and very easy to work with. He was on time both time he had to be in my home. I had my results in my email within a few hours of him picking up the sensors. I truly appreciate his time and explanations. I would definitely recommend Ross and Boomtown Radon Testing without hesitation."

"Schan did a great job, very professional. He came out to see what the job was before he gave me a quote. I have a huge crawl space which took some time but he stuck with it to finish it in one day. Now I can breathe easier knowing it's taking care of right. I highly recommend Clean Air Radon Systems."

"I highly recommend Midwest Radon Services and I am relieved that the system installed was effective. Price was fair and competitive; all work was thoroughly and patiently explained with no pressure. Work was neatly and expertly finished. Suction under the basement slab was tested by measuring into a hole drilled then patched at the other side of the basement and turned out to be extremely good. The system continues to work extremely well with a sight verifiable U-tube monometer on the exhaust system continually monitoring. In addition, over 18 days since installation, the long term Radon readings, on two different digital testers purchased from Amazon, went way down from a maximum of 4.5, to a range of 0.83 - 0.6 during the time when the furnace was being used which is also a time that Radon readings tend to peak."

"We had our house for sale and the perspective buyer hired an inspector that wasn't qualified to determine what was mold. But, since he mentioned the word mold in his inspection, this was supposedly mold in the attic area, no living areas were effected; the buyer ended the contract. I looked for professionals with great ratings and Northern Illinois Radon was one of the highest. I chose them and I am completely satisfied with their professionalism as well as their work."

"I rarely post reviews. Sidad came out a day after I called about our 9.5 radon level to inspect and tell us about the installation route of his mitigation system in our basement. He returned the next morning, installed the system & our 3rd party test report came back at 0.3 which she said was super low. I can not say enough about Clue Radon and his excellent job! And on top of that he is honest and very kind! BTW I first called 3 well known Radon Companies in Lake and Dupage County and they all said I'd be looking at a 2-3 week wait because they are that busy. Call Clue Radon:)"

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

The soil beneath your house is most likely what’s causing an increased level of radon. This is because soil holds radioactivity for a long time and it’s also what most buildings are built on. Another common source of radon is water from a source that hasn’t been through periodic radon tests, such as well water. Over time, the radon from the soil can inhabit other parts of your house like the foundation or plumbing.

Installing a mitigation system reduces radon levels, which can cause lung cancer, providing peace of mind and long-term health benefits. It can also increase your home’s value, as many buyers prefer properties with radon safety measures in place. The investment is relatively low compared to the potential health risks associated with prolonged radon exposure.

Radon enters your home when warm air begins to rise and exits through the roof, creating a vacuum that pulls cooler air from under the foundation. Part of that air is radon, which is an invisible, odorless gas that develops naturally when radioactive particles are deep within the ground. Those particles usually come from decaying matter in soil and rocks.

Testing every 2-5 years or upon adjusting occupancy or structural changes maintains safe environments.

The cost for a radon mitigation system typically ranges from $800 to $1,500, with an average around $1,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the severity of the radon issue, and the type of system required. Your home's foundation type also significantly impacts the cost. For example, sealing and ventilating an unfinished basement might cost around $4,600, while encapsulating a crawl space without a foundation slab can range from $1,500 to $15,000.
