"We had a floor leveling issue in which a room was part tile over cement and part carpet over hardwood, with the tiled part being higher than the carpeted part. We wanted to remove the tile, level the entire floor, and have hard wood flooring throughout the room. This was a challenge for the other contractors and flooring people who came out to give estimates. However, Mike of Mike’s flooring came out and immediately knew how to implement a plan of action. Mike’s team responded quickly and finished the job in a timely manner. They were pleasant and respectful, took care to limit the dust, and cleaned up after themselves. Mike also gave us great remodeling advice and provided us with great referrals for other trade experts. Most importantly, Mike charged a fair price, and he and his team did a WONDERFUL job. The new hard wood flooring looks GORGEOUS! Mike is a true expert in flooring, and I highly recommend him and his team."

"Mircea (the owner, who also personally oversaw and completed the job) and his team did a remarkable job sanding down and refinishing our first-floor wood flooring, as well as administering repair on some unsightly holes in several areas of the floor, in the process transforming a worn and aged surface into one that is fresh and vibrant. The quote was in line with what I was willing to pay, Mircea was genial and pleasant to speak with and work with throughout the process, and the work was done within the estimated time frame without any overages in days or funds spent. They are a local, tight-knit outfit, and I would readily use them again."

"After checking the reviews of several flooring contractors, I decided that Jerry's would provide the best outcome for my flooring remodel project. I was absolutely right. He came out to measure my floors and gave me a quote that was right in the same range as the other quotes I received. However, the others didn't claim to be dust-free. I was also getting my walls and ceilings repainted in the same rooms, and Jerry was able to schedule his crew the very next day after the painters were done in order to keep the project moving along. He came in, took out the old carpet, leveled the floors from all the old staples, and then installed the oak flooring. He and his partner sanded the entire floor, filled in the cracks, and in the end was a smooth and level as it could be. And absolutely no dust! Jerry uses a cyclone-style dust separator on his sanding equipment that captures everything that the machine puts out. Backed with a smaller sander for the edges of the room that uses a HEPA filter, you simply don't generate any dust at all. Because I had hardwood in adjacent rooms, we needed to match the stain to the existing floors. At first we didn't seem to be on the same page, but after trying a mixture of 50% one stain and 50% another, we came up with a perfect match! In fact, people remark how close the two woods appear now that the new floor is installed. (And the old wood is 20 years old!) Jerry completed the work by applying three coats of sealer, and replacing all the heavy furniture that had to be out of the room. Great job!"

"You can tell from the very beginning that Adrian is very focused on the details. From the sanding, staining and applying the protective finish he made sure all areas of the floor where up to his standards, including the corners that where going to be covered by the new baseboard. The results were amazing and far exceeded my expectations. His suggestions greatly helped making the process much easier."

"The end job was excellent.  They came every day, stayed all day until the job was finished.  We are very happy with the finished product.  However, they did not return calls promptly and were going to leave the job unfinished.  By unfinished I mean they were going to leave without properly  installing all the shoe  molding.  They were going to leave a putty joint between the floor and baseboard showing.  They also charged us for the additional shoe molding which we believed was included in the original price. I do
recommend them justmake sure you include everything you want  written in the contract."

Floor Sanding questions, answered by experts

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

Property lines, building locations, and potential encroachments are mapped.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

There are a couple of ways you can determine the depth of your well. One method is to use a device called a well sounder. This tool has a long measuring tape containing a sensor to alert you once the end reaches the water.

Or you can DIY it by using a long tape measure with a half-filled bottle of water attached to it. Lower the tape measure into your well. Once you feel tension on the tape, you’ll know the bottle has reached your static water level. This will give you an approximate idea of your well’s depth.

ALTA/ACSM surveys are the most comprehensive type of land survey and, as such, tend to be the most expensive. These surveys have standardized guidelines and reports and are used in many kinds of real estate transactions to ensure consistent and accurate information is available for properties.
