At A-1 all of our technicians are certified with the Chimney Safety Institute of America, and we are fully bonded and insured. We are accredited members of the Better Business Bureau, members of the National Chimney Sweep Guild, we hold the best of Lombard award for 2012, 2013&2014 and the best of Glen Ellyn award for 2012 .

"They were called out to provide a repair estimate for some brick face chipping off near the chimney crown. I wasn't at home, but Anthony from A-1 provided my wife estimates for rebuilding ($9000) or sealing ($1900) the crown and a few rows of brick below it. They then told her things like "it will cost more if we have to come back out" and pressured her into paying $1600 to essentially just calk the crown with silicone and apply a little brick sealant. They were at the house less than 2 hours and a generous estimate for the materials is less than $100. I found out later they failed to disclose the seal work is a temporary fix and the top of the chimney will have to be rebuilt anyway. Anthony took advantage of a homeowner who didn't know any better just because he could, and the front office is okay operating their business unethically. There are similar experiences by others in reviews at some other sites. I wish I had read them beforehand."

Sol is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions, and I felt very comfortable with going ahead to have his company install a chimney liner. Greg and Gary came about 10 days later to do the installation, and were also friendly, professional and respectful of my home. They politely answered more questions and cleaned up the area better than it was before."

"Had a leak in my roof by the chimney. Roof is 8 years old. The previous roofing company that installed the roof did not flash the chimney, and this was the cause of the leak. Gustafson Roofing came promptly to my house, identified the problem, offered me a written estimate the next day, and came three days later with a 5 man roofing crew and all of the correct materials to reroof a section of the roof, flash the chimney, and end the leak. They did very professional work, completed the job, and cleaned the site. The price was the same as the estmate. Would use them for a new roof in the future when that day arrives!"

The company was established in 1972 as P&J Heating and Air Conditioning by Pete and Jim. In the late 1980's, Air Wise and Best Heating (established in 1948) joined the family and American Comfort Heating & Air Conditioning was formed. The year 2003 is here and American Comfort joins a national franchise to offer clients a higher level of service. One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning is here for the residential customers while maintaining the American Comfort name for the Commercial side of the business.
