"I was pleased with how efficient and personable Joe was, but I was expecting to pay about one hundred less than what I was charged. I’m pleased that the problem was fixed and my clog is gone. I would hire this company again because I have complete confidence in Joe’s ability and repair work."

Customers say: True professional

"I've used Charlie before and always appreciate his skill. This was- thankfully--a minor issue. Pipes had frozen while I was away (how 'bout this winter, y'all?). Charlie came out right away, crawled into our dismal crawlspace, and within 15 minutes figured out where he needed to "perform surgery" to get at the frozen water main within the walls. Clean, quick, and professional.
What I like about Charlie is that he will do what is most efficient, but also recommend possible fixes and enhancements down the road if you choose to do them. No pressure, just good solid advice.

"Several were recommended by Home Advisor, but Chicago Sewer Experts were the only ones available the same day. The rep was prompt, took care of my clogged drain and offered very good advise on preventing future clogs. Hope I don't have this problem again, but if I do I will call Chicago Sewer again."

"Friendly, professional. I've had that my at my house twice this February of 2026 for untreated issues. Both times they checked and double checked their work which I appreciate. I've already informed them they will be back as I'm having kitchen sinks and drains put in and the outside spicket once it warms up a bit."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

If you're dealing with a clogged sink drain, you may be able to avoid removing the drain by using a plunger to dislodge the clog. While we associate plungers with toilets, they can do the same job with your sink drain. Be gentle, though, as forceful movements can push clogs further into your plumbing system and make them more difficult to remove. Additionally, make sure you’re using a sink plunger—with a flat bottom—and not a toilet plunger—which has a smaller bottom protruding from the larger flat piece.

It is safe to flush small amounts of bleach down the toilet. Don’t flush more than ¼ cup of bleach. Instead, consider diluting it and pouring it down the sink drain.

On average, a plumber will take 30 minutes to two hours to clear a clogged drain. If the clog is located close to the drain or an access point and isn’t severe, the project will take about half an hour. If the clog is deep within your plumbing system or is a severe blockage, it can take two or more hours to remove the clog. For this reason, main line clogs tend to take longer, usually between two and three hours.

You should flush your AC drain line once every three months to keep it clear of debris and buildup. Keeping your AC drain line clean prevents clogs, backups, mold growth, and extra wear on your AC unit. If you live in a humid area or have several furry pets, up your cleaning schedule to once a month.

In most areas, drain cleaning professionals don’t technically need a license, as they aren’t altering your plumbing system in any way. However, we recommend hiring a drain cleaning professional with a plumbing license and certification. Certified plumbers are more likely to provide professional solutions to drain clogs without damaging your system. They’ll also have the diagnostic tools and experience necessary to remove the clog entirely rather than providing a temporary solution, as a handyperson might. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your plumber’s professional licenses before hiring.
