"Marc Anderson was incredibly helpful, walking me through the typical process and advising me that I may not need an architect for my specific renovation plans. However, if I do need an architect, he'll be happy to help and I feel assured that I'm dealing with a straight shooter."

Customers say: Super punctual

"I can't say enough about A P Builders and how absolutely wonderful they have been from start to finish. We completely gutted and remodeled our home and Angelo was upfront, honest, timely, and everything that was contracted was done to perfection. We had crew there every day from start to finish. He started on time and finished on time. Any change orders were handled professionally and solutions were found for any unforeseen challenges due to the age of my home. I highly recommend AP Builders for any of your home improvement needs."

"Firmin is a pleasure to work with. He is professional, responsive, and he helped me immensely by creating a set of drawings for a condo renovation. He came over to my house, discussed the project with me and made me realize that my design needed some adjustments. I was very grateful for this because I think I would not have liked it otherwise. He created the drawings on schedule and delivered by the agreed upon deadline. I would hire Senga Architects again without thinking twice."

"Maria did a very nice design but we did not go with them for the service at the time.  Scheduling went perfectly.  She’s very knowledgeable with her plants.  It was apparent that she could create something beautiful from the plan.  It was a very comprehensive design."

"had to get an architect to review a non load-bearing wall in to certify that it was non-load-bearing. DSW did exactly what I needed in QuickTime and was fantastic. Wish I had more work for him"

"Modern Home Remodeling did excellent job in our bathroom. My husband and I are new home owners and were a bit afraid of hiring a company we never had anything to do with before to work on our dream home. Tomas the project manager was very honest, and patient which we very appreciated!! Our bathroom is definitely a bathroom we wanted in our dream home! We would highly recommend this company!"

Architects questions, answered by experts

Some homes, like those with flat roofs, may not have eaves at all. Some contemporary-style homes also lack eaves, although many may have abbreviated eaves to divert water and protect the walls and foundation. Homes without eaves often have specific types of gutters affixed directly to the edge of the roof to provide adequate drainage.

When you think about Arts and Crafts-style homes, you probably think of a Craftsman house or a bungalow-style Craftsman. Craftsman is one of the major styles developed during the Arts and Crafts movement, but it checks most boxes. Craftsman houses have low-pitched roofs, exposed rafters, open floor plans, and stunning wood finish.

A cathedral ceiling is a type of vaulted ceiling with a symmetrical peak that follows the pitch of the roof. They typically peak at a height of 12 to 20 feet, although they can go higher. This dramatic height and steep peak mimic the architecture of many historic cathedrals, which is where they got their name.

Finding an architect for your project demands looking at the professional’s past work, speaking with prior clients to see what their experience was like, and discussing your project and vision with the expert to see what kind of input they have. Look for an architect that gets excited about your project or has experience with similar projects.

The most common scale for residential blueprints is 1/4 of an inch equals one foot. This scale is the most popular because it’s easier for everyone involved, from professionals to homeowners, to understand the building’s actual dimensions. Also, it allows blueprints to have the necessary details without cluttering the page.
