"Abraham and his team, Will and Josh, did a great job of removing old insulation, sealing air leaks and adding new insulation to the attic in my 46 year old home. The old insulation was blocking air flow through the attic and this needed to be addressed, which they did. They were very professional and hard-working. Communication was excellent and everything was well explained and the process photographed. We are glad we hired Abraham for this project!"

"Prevailing came in to insulate my basement and attic. The workers were professional and worked the entire time they were here (which seems like a low standard, but I've had situations where 4 people come to work and 2 stand around talking for most of it from other companies). More importantly, they explained what they were doing as they did it, and cleaned up after themselves before they left! Scheduling the service was quick and easy since they were able to use our Alliant Energy quote to avoid a second home assessment, and they came in under budget. Very satisfied - plan to have them back to blow insulation in the exterior walls before winter."

"Abraham and his team were a fantastic help. Their service was life changing for our family. We live in a 120 year old home that had almost no insulation in the walls. Our HVAC could never keep up on cold, windy days. The last 3 winters there were times we had to go stay elsewhere as the home was too cold. Fast forward to this winter, after they completed the work we saw an immediate return. Bills went down and the home is comfortable. Heck there were times our HVAC stopped since it was so warm! They were very professional and worked around our hectic schedule. I would fully recommend them to anyone in need of insulation services."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

The best time to insulate a garage ceiling is when the weather is mild and dry. That means it shouldn’t be stormy, snowy, or raining, and the temperatures should be comfortable. Ideally, you’ll insulate your garage ceiling in the fall, before winter hits. Not only will you be the most comfortable, but you’ll also likely see the greatest energy savings heading into the colder weather with a newly insulated garage.

Insulating ductwork improves your HVAC system's energy efficiency by protecting the air from external conditions and preventing energy loss as it travels through the ducts. This means your system doesn't have to work as hard to heat or cool your home, leading to lower energy bills and a reduced carbon footprint. Additionally, insulated ducts help maintain a more consistent and stable indoor temperature, enhancing comfort. Proper insulation also improves indoor air quality by reducing the entry of allergens and pollutants and helps prevent problems like condensation and mold formation within the ductwork.

Yes, covering exposed wires is necessary for several important reasons. Exposed electrical wires pose significant risks, such as electrical shocks, fires, short circuits, and potential damage to your home’s electrical system. By properly insulating and protecting the wires, you can minimize the potential for accidents, prevent electrical fires, and ensure your electrical system stays intact.

Yes, you can install insulation behind drywall yourself, but only if your walls are not finished. If your studs are exposed, installing fiberglass insulation in roll or batt form is very straightforward and just requires a few tools and some safety equipment. If your walls are already finished and you’re looking to add insulation, it’s better to hire a professional, as you’ll likely need blown-in insulation, which can be dangerous to work with and a challenge to get into the proper areas in your wall voids.

No, you should avoid using antifreeze in your outdoor spigot to prevent freezing. Antifreeze can contaminate your water supply and harm the environment. Instead, employ safer and more effective methods for winterizing your spigot, such as draining the spigot and using insulation, to protect it from freezing temperatures.
