They showed up when they said they will, did the job on time and on budget. The workers are prompt, cleaned up after themselves and everything was great.

We contacted them because one of our neighbors used them and we saw the sign out front. We received other estimates and American Exteriors came in much less than the others. We did a match test to our old windows and it blew the match out. They had to totally rebuild the frame with the installation. They sealed everything up and capped everything off. They were able to match the products perfect on the exterior of the home. There were about four crew members working on the job and they completed the work in just one day. They cleaned up well after themselves too. Everything turned out excellent and we were really pleased with them.

The customer service was okay, not great. The windows were installed by a contractor and we were very disappointed with every aspect of their work. The contractors were late. The work that was supposed to be completed in a day took several days. They took smoke breaks in the front lawn just a few feet in front of the house when the front window was out, allowing all of the smoke to enter the house. There were enough breaks and enough cigarettes were smoked that we could smell it several weeks later.
The framing in the windows was not what they expected so they had to re-frame them, which thankfully they did not charge for. However the new framing left about a .5" gap between the windows and the trim that was left as exposed wood on both the inside and outside of the house. We had to go through ourselves and seal the wood. Overall we were not happy with any of the work, especially when we considered the cost.
However, a year later we had some storm damage to another window and decided to contact American Exteriors to see what they would charge, since they did promise discounts on any future work they did for us. Since we knew what to look for this time we thought we could make them stay until we were actually satisfied with the work. Unfortunately we will not be working with them at all in the future due to two policies they have that don't fit our needs or lifestyle. They require a minimum of three windows before they will do the work. I was willing to entertain the idea of replacing three windows until they insisted that both homeowners are present during the estimate. That unfortunately is not possible for us at this time and the sales associate was unwilling to make an exception to make the sale.

. Oh, and I liked that the guy from All American who came out said that we could use the old downspouts and they would make it work to save us money (we didn't end up doing that but I was impressed they were willing to when I asked). Also I asked him to take a look at the roof and see if it needed replaced right away or if we could get by with waiting for a year or two or at least until spring. He got up there and said we could probably wait. That told me they were just as concerned with saving me money as I was. All in all we are happy and going to go for the protection so we don't have to climb up on the hot roof anymore.

The roofing crew did a terrible job. I had told them there was a weak spot in the roof and that they would need to replace the sheeting. They just went right over it. Where we had a satellite dish, they just cut the old shingles around it and laid new shingles up to it and then used a BUNCH of silicone caulking to try and cover the seams. When I complained, they had to come back out three more times to fix the two problems. By then the roofing crew was scowling at me and the leader was asking what more I wanted.
The siding crew was very nice and did what looks to be good work. However, after three seasons, our house still makes cracking noises, especially in the winter as the siding heats up. I have called them back many times and they take my name, but no one ever calls.
We also replaced our front door about a year ago. I called to have someone come out and trim it so it would match the rest of the house. Again, they took my name, said someone would call, and no one did. I tried four times over three months. Finally, I called another company and they were there the next day - it took them right about an hour.

We purchased 14 new construction custom made Vista windows for our house. The windows were advertised as having a U value of .10. The Energy Star sticker was .2 U factor. Completion date 10/28/10. Last window installed May 2011. Windows mismeasured and did not seal. Had to be reinstalled. Then they leaked water. Window installed in May installed incorrectly and screens do not fit.
Response from All American Exteriors
"This project was AWFUL!!! The long time frame and water problems were due to the member injecting himself into the construction process. The difference in U-factor is the member's decision to have interior grilles. This reduces the U-factor. We would be remiss in saying we didn't have problem of our own on this project. However, we did TRY on numerous occasions to get this taken care of, timely and correctly! In the end we took off $2,900.00 and reinstalled the windows."
