"Troy and crew did a tremendous job for us, we have a large home with a steep roof. Troy was very responsive throughout the entire process, the crew cleaned up the site at the end of each day and did a great job. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for roofing repairs or an entire new roof like we had done."

This is the 1st time that I have dealt with shingling a roof and replacing siding.  I knew it could get pricy so I got several bids.  I was lucky to work with Jason.   He set up an appointment with me at my convenience within a few days. He came to my house and I expressed my concerns with the roof (part flat over porch and rest shingles).  He did go onto the roof and did a inspection and determined both were in need of replacement.  He then measured the house for siding.  He had brought samples of shingles and siding for me to look at and gave a high level process explanation of the work.  Within a week I received a call to make an appointment to come to their office to go over the bid estimate. Jason showed me a variety of siding products and explained the differences between them.  He also showed me sample of shingles that I could choose between and also explained in detail the products that would be used for the flat roof.  He had taken the time to write up bids for each type of product so that I would know the cost of each.  I very much appreciated the information he shared with me and felt I could make an intelligent decision on what product would be best for my budget.

I give Jason an A for the following:

Responsiveness - responded to my initial call and follow up calls with questions that I had.

Punctuality - would set up a time to meet and was always on time.

Professionalism - friendly, knew his products and explained things in a manner that made sense and could understand.

Unfortunately, the price was not within my budget.  Several other companies bids were more budget friendly.

I would recommend getting a bid  estimate from Buresh Home Solutions - they do have excellent products and I do believe that would do  a great job with installation as well.

Roofing questions, answered by experts

In Des Moines, unexpected costs during roofing projects often include repairing water-damaged decking, upgrading ventilation to meet local building codes, and addressing pest or mold issues uncovered during tear-off. Permit and inspection fees required by the City of Des Moines can also add to expenses. It's wise to consult with your roofing contractor about potential weather delays, which may require temporary protective measures.

Helpful?

When reviewing roofing contractor quotes in Des Moines, be wary of companies lacking a local business address or those not registered with the Iowa Division of Labor. Refusal to provide references or proof of insurance is a major warning sign. Extremely low bids may indicate subpar materials or unlicensed work. Always confirm contractor credentials with the Des Moines Building Division before hiring for your roofing project.

Helpful?

In Des Moines, a building permit from the City of Des Moines Permit and Development Center is required for any roof replacement or major roofing repair. The application process involves submitting detailed project plans, contractor licensing, and proof of insurance. Inspections are mandated at various stages. Always verify requirements with the Permit and Development Center, as local codes may affect your project timeline and compliance.

Helpful?

In Des Moines, asphalt shingles remain the top choice for roof replacement due to their resilience against Midwest hail and wind. Metal roofing is increasingly popular for its longevity and energy efficiency, especially during Iowa's temperature swings. For historic neighborhoods, slate or clay tiles may be required by local building codes. Always consult the Des Moines Building Division for approved materials and consider impact-resistant options for storm protection.

Helpful?

Roofing projects in Des Moines should follow OSHA safety standards, including fall protection and proper ladder use, due to frequent high winds and seasonal ice. Contractors should monitor weather alerts from the National Weather Service and use equipment rated for local storm conditions. The Des Moines Building Division also recommends site-specific safety plans to address risks like hail and sudden temperature drops, ensuring a safe work environment.
