  • Todd's Plumbing
    5.0
Despite another contractor's errors installing the framing, and Menard's supplying the wrong shower door, Todd was able to get the work done and even helped pick up the replacement door for the shower. Todd was friendly and helpful in explaining the options and worked through the issues caused by other contractors to a great end result

  • Herr Plumbing
    5.0
I had no idea that each specialty from installation, drywall, tile repair and painting all had to be coordinated when installing a new shower. Herr (Rick) and (Peggy) were very instrumental in scheduling and finding a quality shower door at a reasonable market rate given todays production hiccups. I have read all the ratings, seen the You Tube videos on bathroom make overs from Bis Box Specialty Companies, and believe me you cannot go wrong with this local ma and pa company in terms of pricing, quality, and installation. Excellent job

  • Water Treatments Des Moines
    5.0
We love Des Moines, but it has very hard water. Water Treatments DSM were professional and made purchasing our water softener and reverse osmosis system easy and it fit our budget. They delivered and installed it quickly. Our water taste and smells so much better. Cleaning is easier too, even our hair and skin is softer. We won’t go back to regular tap water again

The technician was right on time and was very informative about what he needed to do to install the water softener. He explained the benefits of a water softener and Reverse Osmosis (RO) water filter system. We replaced our non-functional water softener with a functional one. Our water hardness dropped from 75 gpg to 1 gpg post-installation of the new water softener system. We are seeing a huge difference in our hair and skin quality, especially for our little ones. Our dishes are cleaner and we need not worry about corrosion of appliances and pipes anymore. We stopped purchasing bottled water that cost us $600 every year and once switched to the RO system. The technician installed a brand new reverse osmosis (RO) system with an in-built mineralizer under the sink. Our drinking water tastes fresh and way better than tap water and bottled water. We are very happy with the installation and quality of service. Water Treatments Des Moines LLC made the installation process hassle-free for us. This is an affordable, professional, and reliable water softener and RO installation company in the Des Moines area

  • Handy Guy

We have had Handy Guy repair several things around our house over the last few years. Recently we had a shower leaking, and others had been unable to figure out the root cause. Jeremy (Handy Guy) figured it out and successfully repaired it under the quoted price. Handy Guy is always professional, always on time, stays within the quoted price and does very high quality work. He really cares, and is very informative. Its always a pleasure to work with him and his son, they do great work and I'm grateful to have them as an option

My husband and I found Buresh Home Solutions through the Better Business Bureau's website. We contacted them for a quote I believe on a Thursday and they were able to send a team out that following Saturday morning. We were impressed right away with the fact that they not only sent out the owner, but also a project manager, and plumber. They were very thorough with the assessment and were able to get us a bid in about a week. We accepted the bid and within a couple days they were working on the project. In regards to the length of time the project took, we were actually slightly disappointed. There were several days where nobody would show up to work on anything even though we were told someone would be there. I realize they have plenty of jobs to work on at any given time, but it was frustrating being misled. Our project manager was very attentive to our needs and worked with us extremely well and that was very much appreciated. We had a few hiccups along the way including the fact that they forgot to caulk around our shower base and we had a significant leak that showed up a couple weeks later and had damaged a small section of our newly refurbished wood floors. It seems as though many of the hiccups were due to mis-communication between several people and details being forgotten. They were very quick to act on it, though, and it was fixed that afternoon. As a very clean person, I was very disappointed with how messy the jobsite upstairs was during the tiling of our shower. It was pretty unacceptable and there was so reason for the huge mess. We were keeping our original oak wood floors since they were in great condition and we were planning on re-doing them after it all ourselves, but we had significant water damage to a large section by the shower where the tiler did not take appropriate steps to safeguard against water damage to the floors or was just lazy. We still see the water damage after sanding/staining/varnishing. We also feel that we paid too much for the amount of work they did and the amount of material we had already provided. Overall we were pleased with their work and their customer service, however at times their attention to detail and productivity could have been greatly improved. Our master bathroom and bedroom remodel will defnitely increase the value to our home

I have worked with Brian Buresh a number of times over the past 10 years, from Siding, new windows, new deck, new sliding French Doors to now remodeling the main level of the house. I got two Bids because I have worked with Brian and he has always lived up to his word, I chose him even though the other bid was about 5% lower. They came out, reviewed the plans we wanted implement, made some suggested changes. One of them was to take our closet out of the mud room and convert it to a locker arrear and the remaining space into a wonderful new additional pantry. After we agreed on price and plan, they started. Within days, they had the floors in the living room, dining room and hallway replaced with new real wood oak floors. ( I have to add that they were instrumental in finding a flooring supplier that had what we wanted with the price we wanted to pay.) After the floors were installed, they stripped the wallpaper, which was in every room. It was a mess during the day but when they left, they cleaned up after themselves every time. After stripping the wallpaper, they arranged for the installation of the Granite and appliances. There was a small delay there because the Boesch Built in Oven was backordered. Once that was in, they finished installing the appliances and finished the job. During the process, Brian stayed in touch with me during the process. As you can guess, you can't put $30,000 into a remodeling project without having some minor issues or changes in the plan. When any of these arose, (and there were very few but mostly due to our changes), he worked with us and implemented the changes or corrected the problem. I've lived in 4 major cities and remodeled a number of houses in each of those cities. I want to say that Brian is the most honest contractor I've ever met. I would work with Brian on a handshake and nothing more. That is how much I trust him

Plumbing FAQ

  1. How much does a plumber cost?

Answer: The cost of a plumber ranges from $175 to $480, with a national average of $330. However, the price will vary depending on job complexity, timing, location, supplies and materials, permits, and level of expertise. These costs typically include toilet repairs, faucet installations, and leaky pipes. In addition to the service call, you may also need to budget for haul-away and trip fees often required during more complicated jobs. Ask your local plumbing contractor about these fees before hiring them.

  2. How much does a plumber charge to replace a toilet?

Answer: On average, you can expect to pay your local plumbing contractor between $125 and $230 to replace an old toilet, with most residential homeowners paying around $150 to $180 for professional installation. You’ll need to consider materials and labor when calculating a final price. Not all toilets are equal. Depending on the brand you choose and the features you want, a new toilet might run you anywhere from $100 to $1,300. Add in the price of labor and installation, and your total project can jump up to $200 and $1,500.

  3. How much does a plumber cost to fix a toilet?

Answer: According to our service providers, it costs roughly $75 to $200 on average to have your toilet repaired. However, this price will vary depending on the complexity of the job and the materials needed for the fix. Repairs can be messy and less-than-pleasant to address, but having a functioning toilet is most definitely necessary. If you’re experiencing problems with your toilet, contact a local, reputable plumbing contractor right away, as avoiding repairs can lead to bigger—and more expensive—issues over time.

  4. Is liquid plumber safe for septic systems?

Answer: Good news! Liquid-Plumr® is safe for septic systems. Most drain cleaners disrupt the pH in your septic tank, which prevents the good bacteria from breaking down septic waste. The chemical make-up in Liquid-Plumr® works with the bacteria to break down waste quickly without harming your septic system. Still, it’s best to confirm with your local plumbing provider if Liquid-Plumr® is the right solution for your system.

  5. How much is it for a plumber to unclog a toilet?

Answer: Even the most well-maintained toilets experience clogs. It’ll cost you an average of $200 to $700 to unclog your toilet. Severe clogs will require a more comprehensive repair method, so check with your local plumbing contractor to determine the best approach for unclogging your toilet.

  6. Is Liquid-Plumr®, or any other liquid drain cleaner, safe for septic systems?

Answer: Yes and no. Liquid-Plumr® and other drain cleaners are most effective when used sparingly (one to three times a year). Repeated use of liquid plumber on drains could deteriorate your pipes and cause more damage. If your pipes clog frequently, put down the liquid plumber and call your local plumbing contractor immediately.
