Jody Fencl, owner of Wildwood Floors, created the company in 1996. Originally, the business was based in Cedar Rapids, IA with a focus on serving residential and small business customers. In 2004 Wildwood Floors expanded it's reach to Des Moines and throughout the rest of Iowa. The company has continued steady growth, and in 2007 was divided into two separate owners to better serve major regions in Iowa. Currently Wildwood Floors has a strong connection to Des Moines and the surrounding area by serving all sizes of businesses and residential customers. Projects range from small to large and involve new construction, remodeling and refinishing.

"The short version of this review is that our floors are beautiful and are one of our favorite parts of the house now. We could not be happier with the work that Wildwood did! Full story, we were remodeling part of our home, which included refinishing all the hardwood on our main floor. Our contractor attempted to do the floors themselves and completely botched the job. Even with a full schedule and short notice, Jody came to our rescue faster than we could have hoped. Within a week of contacting Wildwood, the team got in and had the floors looking amazing. They even worked over a holiday to get the job done. A short time later, our contractors scratched the floor in one of the bedrooms. It took 1 call and within 24 hours Jody had his guys back out to take a look at the damage and the the issue was promptly fixed. 2 months later, our contractor damaged the floors again. Again, within 2 hours Jody was back at our home to look at the damage and the following week the floors were perfect. Working with Wildwood was by far the easiest part of a remodel which turned out to be somewhat of a nightmare. Caleb, Josh and Nick were professional, punctual, friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. They even went out of their way to clean up some messes left by the contractor. It was refreshing to work with a company that takes pride in doing quality work. I cannot say enough good things about Wildwood. The life expectancy of your laminate flooring is 10 to 30 years, depending on how well you maintain it. Unlike hardwood flooring, you cannot refinish laminate to prolong its lifespan. So while laminate is more budget-friendly, it does not last as long as hardwood. You can increase the lifespan of your floor by maintaining a regular cleaning schedule, using the right cleaning products, and wiping up spills promptly.

When it comes to linoleum versus laminate, the better choice depends on your personal needs. Linoleum tends to last longer but is more difficult to install. Laminate is less eco-friendly and less durable, but it is easy to install without a professional. 

Both options come in a wide variety of styles, but many prefer the look of laminate. Laminate and linoleum are affordable flooring options compared to hardwood or tile, but laminate costs less at about $0.70 to $2 per square foot.

Resurfacing a garage floor takes about eight hours on average, with another couple hours over three days to do the epoxy. Epoxy goes on in three coats, with each coat taking 24 hours to dry and cure. You’ll need to keep foot and vehicle traffic off of your garage floor for around 4 days in total when replacing your garage floor, so be sure to plan ahead before you start. This is a great time to organize your garage since you’ll need to move everything out to apply the epoxy.

Carpeting a room is less expensive than installing laminate flooring on average. However, the final cost will depend on your chosen materials and labor considerations for a complicated room layout or stairs. The cost for carpeting jobs can quickly meet or even exceed that of laminate if you choose very high-quality materials for a large space. Keep in mind that carpet also needs padding underneath, which adds to overall project costs.

Vinyl and linoleum are the most affordable flooring for a mobile home. The material costs $3 to $7 per square foot—or half as much as hardwood and slightly less than laminate. 

Overall, vinyl isn’t as durable as linoleum, but it performs best in areas with high levels of moisture. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) or luxury flooring tile (LVT) has added durability with just a slightly higher price tag.
