Wildwood Floors

The short version of this review is that our floors are beautiful and are one of our favorite parts of the house now. We could not be happier with the work that Wildwood did! Full story, we were remodeling part of our home, which included refinishing all the hardwood on our main floor. Our contractor attempted to do the floors themselves and completely botched the job. Even with a full schedule and short notice, Jody came to our rescue faster than we could have hoped. Within a week of contacting Wildwood, the team got in and had the floors looking amazing. They even worked over a holiday to get the job done. A short time later, our contractors scratched the floor in one of the bedrooms. It took 1 call and within 24 hours Jody had his guys back out to take a look at the damage and the the issue was promptly fixed. 2 months later, our contractor damaged the floors again. Again, within 2 hours Jody was back at our home to look at the damage and the following week the floors were perfect. Working with Wildwood was by far the easiest part of a remodel which turned out to be somewhat of a nightmare. Caleb, Josh and Nick were professional, punctual, friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. They even went out of their way to clean up some messes left by the contractor. It was refreshing to work with a company that takes pride in doing quality work. I cannot say enough good things about Wildwood. The floors in our older home were beginning to show signs of wear and tear-- their protective coating was literally peeling off the tops of boards.  I called Jody to request a quote and he scheduled a time to come out promptly within the week.  Jody was professional, easy to talk to, and had the quote emailed to us the next day.  Another local company (Barnum Floors) gave us a quote too, which was very comparable.  However, Wildwood Floors was able to begin work on our floors a little over a week after the initial quote, whereas we would wait a little over a month and a half to fit in the schedule for Barnum.  So, we went with Wildwood!

We in no way regret our decision.  The team Jody sent-- two guys whose names I've unfortunately forgotten-- was very professional.  On the first day of work, they sat down with us with a section of unfinished boards and applied all of the different stains we could choose from to them in front of us, along with a protective coating to see how they would finish.  There were 5 stains set out initially, which was enough for us, but they had more with them if nothing was grabbing our eye.  We chose Spice Brown, which has turned out fantastically.

The team showed up early each morning to get started, left in the afternoon or early evening (depending on what was being done that day), and had the floors clean and their tools neatly stored by the end of the day.  It was always the same two guys, so they would know what was going on and what needed to be done.  We would get a text each day letting us know what all had been done that day and whether or not we could walk on the floors (I'm sure they would call, too, if that's your preference).  The work was completed in just five days.  It was originally set to be four, but due to our schedules, the team had to hold off on applying a second coat of stain one of the days, which pushed us forward.

Our finished floors look fantastic.  They are more even due to the sanding process, the gaps between boards have disappeared, and the team replaced a board in our living room which (for reasons I will never understand) the previous owners drilled a 2 inch hole through-- I can't tell which board it is anymore.  The stain is evenly applied, the protective coating is doing its job.  No more chipping!  We have been living with the finished floors for about a month now and I foresee no issues.

Long story short, Wildwood Floors is competitively priced, professional, trustworthy, meticulous, and efficient.  I have already recommended them to friends and would in no way hesitate to have them do any work on my floors in the future.

Staff were responsive, prompt, professional and clean.  We were very pleased with the quality of work and communication throughout project.  They were not the cheapest in town but the work was worth every penny.

We had a little difficulty coordinating at first and he was running late on the first day, but overall he did a wonderful job. There was very little dust created and very little odor making the process much easier. The pricing was very fair and I felt I was dealing with a stand up guy who cares about the work he does. I would definitely recommend Wildwood. I especially appreciated them working me in much sooner than any other company could and at a better price.

Jody and his crew did an amazing job with our hardwood floors on the 3rd floor of our home! Very professional and reasonable pricing! Will call him again!

Jody was here every time he said he would be here. We even requested a faster turnaround time and he squeezed us in 2 weeks earlier. The floors turned out beautiful and we couldn't be happier!  Have always used Phillips Floors (2 previous homes), but Wildwood is a small business owner that takes pride in his work. Additionally, he is much more professional than my experiences with Phillips. Nice to know there are other options in town.

The floor looks beautiful. The guys were punctual, courteous and efficient. The worked on keeping the dust down, and told us how to care for the flook afterwards. We have been very pleased.

Our floors were originally installed in 1954. They had a lot of nail holes and other gouges plus cuts in the wood from previous carpet installations. I was worried that the damage would still be noticeable after the work. I was very pleasantly surprised. Jody and his crew finished the floors beautifully. The workmanship is outstanding with the nail holes and other damage virtually gone. The section of new flooring blends extremely well with what was there. There was very little dust because of their equipment and no odor because we used a water based finish. A neighbor who took a look at the floors was impressed too.

The results are really beautiful.  Jodi was very professional and reliable, honest with me about possible additional costs as the carpeting was removed.  He worked very hard to keep on schedule so I could get back into the house without having additional expenses.  I would absolutely recommend Wildwood Floors and would use them again.

Five years ago I had Wildwood Floors refinish my hardwood floors in my living room and dining room. They did a great job and I didn't have any problems with them. This summer I needed to have an estimate refinishing the hardwood floor in the entryway to my house. I contacted them via their website and sent an e-mail asking for someone to call and schedule an appointment to provide an estimate. Jody called and scheduled an appointment for June 28 at 4:30. I waited for 30 minutes for him to show and called him to ask if he would be able to make it. He replied that he had completely forgotten about it (he had called me that morning to schedule the appointment). He said he would come right over. He arrived and we discussed what I needed and he provided another option for me. He said he would price it both ways for me. A couple of weeks went by and I had not received the estimate. I went on the website and sent another e-mail asking about it. I did not hear anything back. On July 25, I called and left a voicemail about the estimate. I did not receive a call back. I called again on July 29 and spoke with Jody. I asked about the estimate and he said he had not gotten that to me yet. He said he had been out of town for a couple of weeks and would get the estimate to me and thanked me for calling. I still have not received the estimate. Very disappointed because I really wanted to use them again. However, after this experience, I would not recommend them.

Jody Fencl (owner) came to the house and performed the estimate. Of the four local companies we accepted bids on, Wildwood was the lowest price. Also Jody seemed a bit more professional in his estimation process and providing a written quote via email. After reviewing all of the bids we called Jody and he scheduled us for the following week.
During the next week the floor project itself started on the Wednesday and completed on Thursday. The two man crew showed up Wednesday morning and did the initial machine sanding, hand sanding, wood fill and both coats of finish. The two coats were done within 5 hours of each other. The crew then came back the next day and put on a coat of sealer and reinstalled the cold air return grates. On Friday Jody came to install the thresholds and collect the money.
The sanding operation left very minimal dust. Having helped refinish a floor before with not-so-pro tools, I was pretty impressed. I would still recommend swapping your air filter a couple times though!
The only real compliant my wife had about the service was punctuality. I mean the job got done on time, but a couple times folks didn't show up quite at the times they'd stated. My guess is these guys are juggling a bunch of jobs at once.
Otherwise we couldn't be happy with the results, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use Wildwood Floors again.

The guy that came out did an excellent job. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

This was an 8 on a scale from 1 to 10. Quick to provide an estimate. They gave us advance notice they would be starting later than originally anticipated. The sanding of the floors was good and as dust-free as possible. They took time to help select the stain that matched other stuff in the house. They didn't communicate timing of next steps very well so the varnish went down with a few (small) white spots where the stain was missed. Overall, very couteous and professional. I would use them again, but manage the steps a little more closely.

The finish on the floors was well-worn, some of the wood was damaged and the nail holes were numerous. Jody came in and made everything look nearly new, including the nail holes. He did warn me that the putty would eventually work itself out but so far, everything looks great. When he was almost finished, I stupidly stepped in the wet finish. With good humor and without an extra charge, the mistake was fixed.
