"Hoco power did great! They contacted me the same day I posted my project and did the work the next day. They had professional employees that knew what they were doing and recommended the best way to install my circuit. I felt comfortable with them in my home and around my family. "Tried having 3 companies come out to install one simple additional 120 volt outlet install One company quoted 3x the normal cost chat gpt said it should cost, another company said they would come out and never showed, another company believe it or not sent out a guy who gave me a quote and said he would come the following day to install and never showed. Perry power saved the day, came out, quoted, arrived back when they said they would and did a very clean professional job and was done in no time. Definitely recommend."

Customers say: Quality work

"The gentlemen showed up on time. Were most very professional. Did a fantastic job and described to me step by step EXACTLY what they were doing. I felt like afterwards I learned a little bit about electrical wiring. The job consisted of installing a dryer vent in my garage and rewiring 3 outlets in a bedroom. Definitely recommend for any future electrical service."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

An undersized whole-house generator has the potential to overheat and shut down when you try to run a central AC system. This scenario can not only damage the whole-house generator, but can also trip your home’s breakers or cause electrical damage. To avoid this situation, hire a local generator installer to correctly size your whole-house generator.

It’s usually better to repair your generator if it isn’t working properly, as it will typically be much more affordable and should yield similar results. Generator repairs cost around $300 on average, while installing a new whole-house generator costs around $5,000 on average. The only exception is if you know your generator is reaching the end of its useful life, usually between 30 and 40 years. If you have an older generator, you could face multiple repairs in the coming years, which might mean that a full replacement will be more cost-effective over time.

No, you should never plug a generator directly into a wall outlet in your house. This practice is extremely dangerous, often illegal, and can cause "back-feeding," where power from the generator flows back into utility lines, creating a life-threatening hazard for utility workers. It can also damage your home's electrical system, including appliances like pumps and HVAC fans. If the main power is restored while the generator is connected, it can destroy the generator and cause an electrical fire. To safely connect a generator, you must use a professionally installed transfer switch or an interlocking kit, which prevents back-feeding by disconnecting your home from the utility grid before the generator provides power.

Yes, in some locations, it is required by the National Electric Code (NEC) to have a transfer switch installed for electrical emergencies. In addition to following electrical code, generator transfer switches ensure your home is fully protected during a power outage. By switching the power from the main breaker to the generator breaker, you can seamlessly operate your HVAC, lights, appliances, devices, and more during an emergency.

Natural gas generators are designed to run for extended periods of time, such as power outages during a natural disaster. Since there’s no limit to the supply of natural gas, they don’t need to stop for refills. However, generators do need maintenance, including pauses to check and add oil. Constantly running them will also cause a lot more wear and tear, leading to a shorter lifespan.
