"Electrical Fixers has installed a new modern light fixture in our home as well as change the bulb of an outdoor ceiling fan that had an unusual globe that seemed impossible to screw off. I was first impressed by how prompt they were in making the appointment and making us feel our need was important. Then I was well pleased with the expertise of the electrician and how he finished the job with ease. The work ethic and courtesy is by far the best I have experienced with an electrician. Just can't beat all of this in one! Highly recommend."

"Always Connected Electric was prompt, and professional. I definitely recommend this company. He hung a ceiling fan, two sconces, and a pendant bathroom fixture in my historic home. Electrical questions, answered by experts

It’s important to ask an electrician a few questions before you commit to hiring them so you can make an informed decision as a consumer. If you’re getting estimates or considering hiring an electrician, ask them these questions:

  • Are you a full-time electrician?

  • Are you bonded, licensed, and insured?

  • What level of experience do you have as an electrician?

  • Can you please share three references?

  • Do you do residential or commercial electrical work?

  • What kinds of electrical work are you most familiar with?

  • Will any subcontractors be performing the work?

  • Are permits and inspections required?

  • Who is responsible for obtaining permits and inspections?

  • What is your schedule?

  • Do you offer a guarantee or warranty on your work?

  • Will you sign a do-not-exceed clause to keep the job within the budget?

You don’t need an electrician to change an outlet—but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t hire one. Working with electricity can be dangerous, not only for you but also for your home and the members of your household. There’s the risk of electrocution, poor wiring burnout, and electrical fire. When you hire a licensed electrician, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your electrical outlets are installed correctly and up to code.

While it’s not possible to put a main breaker in a main lug panel, it’s possible to convert a main lug to a main breaker. Converting to a main breaker panel offers increased safety, simplified control, compliance with building codes, and adaptation to changing electrical needs, especially when adding new circuits or upgrading the system.

While washers and dryers do not require a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) outlet to function properly, electrical codes often mandate their use for safety. The National Electrical Code (NEC) requires GFCI protection for all outlets within six feet of a water source. This means a washer and dryer must be plugged into a GFCI outlet if they are installed in locations like a laundry room, utility room, garage, or basement. In other areas without a nearby water source, there is no specific requirement, but using a GFCI outlet is still recommended for extra peace of mind. It is always best to consult your local codes and regulations to ensure compliance and safety.

A 60W LED bulb is likely labeled as “60W replacement” on the package—that’s because it provides about the same light output as a 60W incandescent bulb. In reality, it likely uses less energy—usually 15 watts or less. If that’s the case, then it’s perfectly fine to put a 60W LED bulb in a 40W socket. Your best bet is to read the package carefully. It will tell you the LED bulb’s actual wattage, and as long as it’s lower than the fixture, the bulb will be safe to use.
