"The plumber who did the installation was excellent. His work passed the city's inspection. However, the firm rushed to install the hot water heater before the permit was issued. I was worried about getting a fine from city hall. Also, they started the work right after I agreed to the work order that evening without even coordinating with me on the installation time. At that time, I had to leave home to fulfill another commitment."

"We came home to our basement with couple of inches of water. The plumber was able to come that same afternoon and recommended that we replace the sump pump. During the repair, he discussed the need for maintenance on this sump pump. We enjoyed working with this plumber and will hire this company again."

"Good company. Good experience from the time I began obtaining an estimate, until the work was completed June 2016. Prices were fair and reasonable for above-builder-grade product on 2 (Carrier Performance Series) HVAC unit replacements. They were very accommodating on meeting the timeline promised. My ONLY issue was that a bit more care could have been exercised on the install... but it was hotter than Hades, making conditions brutal! I am choosing Ragsdale to continue to service our units. I give them a A-"

"Two weeks prior to the closing on my 93-year-old fathers Roswell house, we had a sewer backup in the basement. I called Northside Plumbing and Chad came over quickly. He put his camera down the sewer line and found that the line was plugged with roots. He spotted the location in the yard which showed the line 8 feet in the ground. I was in a panic due to the pending sale. Three days later Chad and his crew dug up the line, repaired it, and had it all finished in four hours, which he had estimated. Chad was amazing, eight feet down in the ground pulling out roots from the line by hand. He installed a new section of sewer line, added a tap up to ground level, sealed it all up with concrete, filled the hole and smoothed over the yard. There was very little disturbance to the yard Chad is a total pro and a good guy too. I was totally amazed by his quick response and excellent work. His price was also very fair for the work is done. I can not put enough stars on this review to show how impressed and satisfied I am. Thank you so much, Chad and Northside Plumbing."

"Went well. The attic stairs we’re broken while removing / installing new furnaces. Dayco without any delay ordered new stairs to be installed. We had an issue with not using material to cover hardwood floors and did get some small scratches. We did review this complaint and they did offer to send a flooring co to repair"

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.

3/4 HP is stronger than 1/2 HP. Horsepower measures how much weight can be moved and how fast, or the power needed to move 550 pounds one foot in one second. 1 HP equals 550 foot-pounds per second, so the higher the horsepower, the heavier the load it can lift. While 1/2 HP is a standard, powerful option, 3/4 HP has the extra strength to handle heavier, larger doors with ease.

Costs depend on pump type, labor rates, and the extent of repairs or installation needs.

Common problems include motor failure, clogged discharge lines, and float switch malfunctions. Regular maintenance prevents many issues.

No. Sump pumps have different capacities, which refers to the volume of water that they can remove. They also come in various horsepower ratings, which measure the size of the pump’s motor. For many homes, 1/3 horsepower is enough. But if you live in an area that floods often, you might need a more powerful model.
