"Alberto with AB landscaping came by and gave me a quote for the landscaping work that included some slight grading of my back yard and installing Bermuda sod. We ordered the sod and the day before it was delivered Alberto and his crew came by and completed the grading work and returned the next day and layed the sod. Great job AB landscaping my backyard looks great. Thank you for a job well done"

"They are wonderful and work efficiently and clean up when they are done! Jeff is a soft spoken man, but really polite and kind! A real pleasure to work with. We love the finished project! We would have hi. And his team come back for any other projects we would do in the future. I am so glad we hired Graceful Gardens to do our landscaping! They will be our go to company from now on. They showed up on time, worked hard, and I really appreciate their work ethic!"

"We got a total of 3 quotes to have a 10x10 concrete pad put in for a hot tub. Tyler came in at half the price of the most expensive quote and the end result was EXCELLENT. He even rearranged the schedule to get the install done before a fence was put in the next day. The most expensive quote even required us to have to remove the form boards ourselves. We didn't have to do that with Above Grade. I would definitely use them again."

"Lawler Landscaping did a great job installing 7 new catch basins and a 100 ft stone retaining wall and grass carpet turf during a periods of harsh weather conditions including frozen ground. They kept me informed and did a great job of final job site clean up. The job was fully complete."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

Xeriscaping can be more affordable than traditional landscaping, but it depends on your landscape design. However, you will save on water. If you live in an arid climate or a location prone to droughts, xeriscaping is an especially efficient way of reducing your lawn’s water demand without detracting from the beauty of your yard.

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.

Consulting your local university extension, Audubon society, or municipal urban forestry program are all good ideas when choosing a tree to plant. You can also ask an arborist or a knowledgeable landscaping company for advice on good trees to plant.

Surface-level tree roots might only pose a small threat, such as being a tripping hazard or obstacle when you mow your lawn. But if mature tree roots start growing in the direction of your home’s foundation or plumbing system, it could be a real problem. Cutting small tree roots out before they grow too large can keep your home safe without removing the whole tree.
