Experienced in roofing, siding, framing, plumbing, light electrical, concrete flat work, irrigation, fencing, insulation, and limited masonry. I am on every job personally from start to finish. An annual inspection will help you determine if more frequent cleaning is necessary.

The damper, located just above the firebox, can open or close the chimney flue. The damper should remain closed unless there’s a fire burning in the fireplace. Closing the damper prevents energy loss through the chimney and cold air from seeping into the home during the winter. Opening the damper helps maintain airflow when there is a fire and prevents smoke and gases from venting into the house.

  • See or smell smoke in your home during use.

  • You smell gas or unusual odors coming from your fireplace.

  • The fireplace is visibly damaged or crumbling.

  • The igniter won’t light.

  • You notice shaling (pieces of chimney lining) building up in your fireplace.

  • Any portion of the fireplace is rusted.

  • You notice efflorescence (white stains) on the brick.
