ABOUT ME: I proudly Served in the United States Air Force for 22 years as a Diesel/Gasoline Engine Mechanic. Upon Retirement from the USAF I purchased a Class A RV and took it in to C _ _ _ _ _ _ W _ _ _ _ for repair. When I was informed of their labor rate $129HR I honestly could not afford that and I immediately knew what my calling was... become a licensed RV Tech and help other RV owners who like the idea of saving money on potential costly repairs and applying that savings towards more fuel to enjoy the RV LIFESTYLE THAT MUCH MORE! As a RV full-timer I can appreciate your RV concerns as we both have the same needs from time to time... an honest and knowledgeable RV Repairman/Licensed Electrician. Do you like the idea of losing your Home-on-Wheels only to pay a dealership $129.00 an hour during these hard economic times? Do you like the idea of residing in a overly priced hotel and paying for all your meals while waiting for your RV to be repaired? Due to a critical shortage of HONEST AND COMPETENT RV MOBILE MASTER TECHS I stay extremely busy and I am usually by appointment only. I Charge $60.00 HR Labor. I Charge $60.00 Service Call for a Round Trip Drive within 1HR driving range. Those are my prices period! NO Bartering BEEN THERE DONE THAT... No Payment Plans... No Post Dated Checks..... and Guess What? I GOT A STORY TOO! If you believe I am overpriced then I strongly encourage you to drop your RV off at the nearest dealership so you can gain a better appreciation for my rates and on-site service capability. Electrical questions, answered by experts

One sign of a blown outlet is a burning smell. If you smell something smoky or burning, contact an electrician and have them look at it as soon as possible. Other signs of a blown outlet are a melted or discolored plastic cover. You may also notice a plug falling out, which indicates it’s no longer functioning.

The National Electric Code requires at least one GFCI outlet in each sectioned-off portion of a finished or unfinished basement and at least one GFCI outlet per circuit in a fully finished basement. There may be additional codes based on your local municipality and building department. A licensed electrician in your area will be familiar with the requirements and can ensure your home is up to code.

You can add an electrical outlet outside by sending a wire through the wall from an existing interior outlet. Without having to open up walls, you can thread a new electrical cable from the existing outlet through the wall and to the exterior. You’ll need to cut a hole in the siding to place your new outlet. Ensure that your outdoor outlet is a GFCI outlet (ground fault circuit interrupter outlet) per the National Electrical Code. It’s best to hire an electrician to add an outdoor outlet unless you have previous electrical experience.

Outlets do wear out, usually within 15-25 years, but they can fail even sooner than that —sometimes in a matter of years. If your plugs always slide out after you put them in, this is a sign your outlets need to be replaced. Additionally, if your outlets are damaged, cracked, discolored, or regularly tripping the circuit breaker, they may be at the end of their life.

If your outlet is testing fine but keeps tripping, that’s a sign your GFCI outlet is working, but there’s a problem somewhere else. Try plugging in different devices and see if the outlet keeps tripping. If it’s not the appliance that’s causing the issue, it could be a problem in your wiring. Faulty wiring can be a source of electrical fires and other serious problems. We recommend arranging an inspection by an electrician if an outlet appears to be working but keeps tripping.
