Russell and two of his crew removed two existing powered roof attic ventilation fans from our roof and replaced them with two new fans.  The motor on one of the fans had burned out, and since both fans were the same age, we decided to replace both fans.  The cost of a new motor was about the same as the cost of an entirely new fan.  Russell picked up the new fans on the way to the job site.  The pitch of our roof is very steep, so access to the fans was not easy.  Some roofers will replace these fans but will not disconnect or reconnect the electrical wiring.  Russell and his crew handled the electrical as well.  Access to the fans from the inside of our attic is not practical because of the roof height, so they had to have enough slack in the electrical cable that was attached to enable the fans to be removed and pulled out from above with the wiring still attached.  Russell went into the attic and disconnected the electrical cable from the studs to enable this to be done.  He replaced the electrical cable on one of the fans that was shorter than the other to facilitate its removal if this ever happens again.  He did not charge me for the new cable.  He charged me for the actual cost of the fans plus the labor for his crew.  The new fans are very quiet.  It rained one day after the job was completed and I checked in the attic....there were no leaks around the fans.

The fans are thermostatically controlled, and it was not hot enough the morning that they were installed to cause them to run.  So we could not confirm that they actually would run while Russell and his crew were here.  After they were gone, the attic temperature did get hot enough, and I confirmed that the fans did come on as they are supposed to do.  Russell called the next morning to confirm that they did come the afternoon of the job.

I was very pleased with the job and would definitely use Russell and his crew again.

"They did a great job. They solved all the problems I had with the chimney and it’s been working perfectly ever since. They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. It took them a couple of days to do the work. They took care of all the cleanup as well. We've been real happy with them."

"Mark was great from the start. I called on a Wednesday hoping to have work done in a short 3 week window. He happen to have an opening and working in my area on Friday. Mark gave me a 2 hour window and checked in to let me know he was on his way. He cleaned the chimney and installed the cap and flashing in about an hour. Everything looks great and no mess left behind. Mark has been very responsive to questions in timely manner. I would highly recommend Eastern Chimney to anyone who has chimney needs."

Nest Installation questions, answered by experts

In Augusta, unexpected costs can include repairs for pest-related damage, sealing entry points to prevent future infestations, and moisture control improvements in crawl spaces. Emergency treatments or additional follow-up visits may be needed if pests persist. Preparing your property and making landscaping adjustments to reduce pest habitats can also require extra effort. The Georgia Department of Agriculture recommends regular inspections to help minimize these surprises.

Helpful?

In Augusta, effective pest control often involves using liquid insecticides for perimeter barriers, granular treatments for lawns, and bait stations for ants and termites. For fire ants, targeted granular baits are especially useful due to Augusta's climate. Local pest control supply stores and hardware retailers typically carry these materials. Always follow Georgia Department of Agriculture guidelines for safe and legal use of pest control products.

Helpful?

Ongoing pest control in Augusta typically involves monthly monitoring of bait stations, clearing debris and vegetation near the home, and quarterly inspections for new pest activity. Annual termite inspections are recommended due to Augusta's humid conditions. Keeping detailed records and promptly notifying your pest control provider about any changes helps maintain effective protection, as advised by the Georgia Department of Agriculture and local extension offices.

Helpful?

In Augusta, DIY pest control offers flexibility and immediate action for minor issues, but may be less effective against persistent pests like termites or fire ants common in the area. Hiring a licensed professional ensures compliance with Georgia Department of Agriculture regulations, access to stronger treatments, and ongoing support. Professionals also provide warranties and expertise in identifying local pest risks, which can be especially valuable in Augusta's climate.

Helpful?

In Augusta, homeowners do not need a permit for personal pest control on their property. However, professional pest control operators must be licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. For real estate transactions, a wood-destroying organism inspection report may be required. Augusta follows state regulations and does not impose additional local permit requirements; always verify with the Augusta city government for the latest updates.
