"Before you sign up with any of the National brands of water softener companies I urge you to consider Andy of New Life Water for your water softening/conditioning needs. He was responsive, informative and professional. What more could you ask for from a business?"

"Home demo was outstanding and left me feeling comfortable with what I was going to be getting and how the systems work. The price was super affordable for the benefits the Gold system would give me. I had water softener AND the carbon filtration system in one. Zafar does an amazing demonstration. I hired him and the he was at my home less than a week later. He and his team were punctual, polite, and very knowledgeable. They installed a new water heater for me as well and, with the limited space, did an outstanding job of getting it in and hooked up. The entire job was complete in just a few short hours and looks neat, clean, and truly shows a dedicated and meticulous team set it up. The entire garage was swept and looks like no one was ever there. I would not hesitate one bit in highly recommending this BDBL for anyone looking to improve their water quality. A+++++"

"Just had my water softener and chlorinator annual service accomplished by Pure Touch. About 10 days later, I noticed a problem with the controller. Pure Touch has a 30 day no charge service call warranty. The controller suffered an internal failure. Pure Touch made 3 separate trips and stood by their warranty. For approximately 15 years, I have used Pure Touch. Besides being professional and knowledgeable, the main reason I am a loyal customer is they are honest, dependable and always go the extra mile."

"Great customer interaction and orientation. Very personable. Installed Whole House Filter and Salt Softener system as well as a Reverse Osmosis System for drinking water. Excellent water quality. ALL the hard water is gone -- completely. What a difference it makes in skin, hair and overall health. Highly recommend this company."

"The sales rep took several water testsâ ¦ The sales rep took several water tests and showed me the results. She told me that I needed more than just a water softener. I also needed a system to address the rust and iron in my well water. I did not want to spend a fortune but the sales lady was pretty convincing. The price was good and the workmanship was excellent. My water is clean again ! Now I can tackle the original problem. My toilet has bad rust stains. I will either get it clean, or replace it. I could not do this until the water was fixed."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Yes, a water softener can remove scale deposits. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, after you add a water softener to your home, “gradually the softer water will dissolve limescale scale deposits and remove the problem entirely.” Installing a water softener—or water descaler—will also help prevent new scale deposits from forming.

Hard water isn’t necessarily bad for you. In some ways, it’s good for you. If you’re deficient in magnesium or calcium, hard water can give you a mineral boost that you wouldn’t get with soft water. However, this is where the benefits of hard water pretty much stop. Hard water can cause many minor inconveniences and lead to costly, premature replacements of your water-using appliances.

You can install a water softener system by turning off the water supply, draining the water, and then connecting your device to the waterline. Next, you’ll fill your tank with the recommended amount of salt or brine (whichever your unit calls for; be sure to read the instructions). Turn the water supply on and check for leaks. You can opt to let your water run for a few minutes, then test it using strips.

The process of inspecting your water softener system is similar.

Selecting the right system depends on testing your water to understand the contaminants present and considering your household's water usage and specific needs, such as removing specific contaminants.

Replacing a water softener costs $200 to $6,000, depending on the capacity of the water softener, the type of water softener, and the amount of people living in your home. An ion exchange water softener is the most common type and costs $500 to $3,000. Water distillers, which cost $1,200 to $4,000, and dual-tank models, which cost $1,000 to $5,000, are definitely pricey, but they offer more filtration or capacity, respectively.
