Eddie is great; I am impressed by his professionalism. Eddie helped me understand what is involved in the job. His patience to explain Has no equal. Eddie keeps his words; He returns my calls within 5 min (the most). Eddie makes sure that the customer be satisfied with the work done. He is committed to excellence; and once the job is complete, He makes sure that your driveway, your yard, and surrounding area is perfectly clean, as if no one has ever been there; and all you have , is a New Roof. "I am glad I chose Nothmen roofing for my project. The original estimate was $2800 but when Travis opened up the roof he immediately found the problem. and repaired it. Travis couldâ ve very easily charged me the full price without my knowledge. He actually charged me 33% less for the project. If youâ re looking for a professional, honest and high quality workmanship; Northmen Roofing is it. Barry"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Flapping shingles, or shingles that are lifting or curling away from your roof, can be glued back into place using roofing cement or sealant. Apply the glue underneath the shingle, then press it down firmly. You can leave a brick on top of the shingle to hold it in place overnight while the sealant dries.

The minimum recommended slope for a porch roof is 1/4:12, which means 1/4-inch of rise every 12 inches of run. Slopes of 3:12 and 4:12 are more common and provide faster drainage for runoff. Make sure to choose a pitch that’s appropriate both for the climate in your area and the type of roof material you install. Hire a roofer if you need help determining what the right roof pitch is.

The most common roof pitch is 4:12, which means a rise of 4 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal run. However, roof pitch varies widely based on roof design, climate, and even the roofing materials you plan to install. Your building type also plays a role, as flat roofs are common on commercial buildings and some modern homes.

The best way to prevent wind damage to your roof, especially if you live in an area prone to hurricanes, tropical storms, or tornadoes, is to invest in a roofing product with high wind resistance. Look for the ASTM D3161 and ASTM D7158 ratings to see the specific wind speeds your roofing product can withstand. Impact-resistant shingles have the highest wind resistance ratings and will give you the best chance of avoiding wind damage.

The easiest way to tell if your roof vent boot is leaking is to look in your attic for signs of water damage. You might see visible moisture, water spots, or mold on the roof decking around the roof vent or damaged or soggy insulation below it. If you don’t have access to your attic or aren’t sure if the vent boot is the issue, hire a professional to come inspect your roof and figure out the underlying issue.
