"I could not locate our septic tank for pump out and called Mike at A-1 Able Rooter. Mike took steps to locate the tank and brought in necessary heavy equipment to accomplish the pump out. Mike was knowledgeable, responsible, honest and fair with his pricing. He knows his business better than any contractor I have ever dealt with and I recommend his services without hesitation."

The technician explained everything clearly, fixed the problem quickly, and left the area clean. Their prices were fair, and the quality of work was outstanding. "Everything went very well.  I got a courtesy call before arrival letting me know that the guys were on the way.  The gentlemen that came were great.  They quickly found my septic tank and went to work.   Given were my septic tank is located, they had to cut away the plantings but did so only after asking me if that was OK.  They also put everything back after they were done and cleaned up after themselves.  They were done in about an hour.

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

There are many reasons you may want to extend the depth of an existing well or drill a new, deeper well on your property. A deeper well can tap cleaner water sources—shallow water may contain more contaminants. With a deeper well, you’ll also have an easier time reaching the water table depth (the level at which underground water is found) and can get past tricky soil conditions.

Plus, if your local building code requires a minimum well depth for safety and environmental standards, you’ll meet the code by digging a deeper well in the first place.

Good news: You’ll naturally increase the bacteria in your septic tank simply by using it. If you want to encourage more good bacteria growth, stop using products and household cleaners that kill bacteria, such as bleach and harsh chemicals. Never flush antibiotics, and make sure only water and waste go down the tube—not paper products, feminine hygiene products, or diapers.

Yes, it is generally okay to oversize a well pressure tank, and it will not harm your well system. The primary advantage is that a larger tank reduces frequent pump cycling, leading to longer, slower cycles with fewer startups. This can result in less wear and tear, potentially increasing the lifespan of the pump and conserving energy. However, there are drawbacks to consider. Oversized tanks have a higher upfront cost and require more physical space. While not necessarily a bad thing, opting for a tank that is appropriately sized for your well is often the most efficient choice in terms of cost and space.

Septic tanks aren’t bad for the environment as long as they receive proper maintenance and attention. This means staying up-to-date with professional septic system inspections and septic tank pumping. Without regular maintenance, parts of the septic system could break or stop working, potentially letting harmful waste into the soil and groundwater.

A septic alarm can sound different depending on your system, but often, it’s a loud, repetitive beeping noise or a steady, high-pitched noise. It may also be a loud buzzing noise. To confirm the noise is your septic alarm, check your alarm box for a red light. You can also silence your alarm with a red button or switch on the box. Look for something that says “Test” or “Mute.”
