"R &R Tree Service did a great job of trimming several big trees on my property. I hardly had a twig blown down in the two near-topical storms we've had since."

"Alton’s crew did an amazing job removing a large tree in our yard and also trimmed our large palms. They were fast, efficient, and friendly. We were quoted a very fair price and it was done the same day. Excellent, top notch service. Thank you so much Alton!"

"Hired these gents to remove a very large lighting-struck black olive tree and trim some overgrown ficus hedge. Patric and Sonny were great...major challenge was tree removal and stump and surface roots grinding. Safely cut the tree, trimmed ficus, and moved debris to curb, then had a hauler pick up the debris piles. Came back the 2nd day to complete Stump grinding and yard clean up. Great job; on my list for additional tree trimming work."

Customers say: Quality work

"Over the years, we've lost 6 trees due to hurricanes which left us with 6 stumps on our front lawn. ASAP Tree Service appeared in my driveway at 9:30AM and was finished and packing up by 10:45. They were on time, prepared and polite. Thank you ASAP"

"I was very impressed with Nestor and his crew. They showed up as promised for both the estimate and the trimming. Nestor was considerate of the start time with the noise the neighbor's would experience in mind. Nestor's certification as an Arborist was evident in the way the trees were trimmed. He presented alternatives to the way that I initially wanted the trees to be trimmed. I deferred to his expertise and was very satisfied with the outcome. Additionally, the cleanup was immaculate. The only evidence that the crew was at my house was the excellent job they did trimming the trees. I would definitely recommend 502 services if you want to experience professionalism, great service, and an awesome result."

"Jose was very professional and reliable. The main water line in the front of my house broke. We had a plumber replace the main line leaving my front yard a huge pile of dirt. Jose prepared and completed a beautiful oasis in my front yard, He was very creative and knowledgeable regarding what types of shrubs and a specific sod he wanted to use. When you reach out to him, he responds promptly. After the job was done and his crew left, he stopped by again to make sure the job was done to his expectations and mine. I highly recommend Jose at Landscaping Solution Tree Service of Broward county, excellent company!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

If you’re taking down a tree that you don’t suspect is affected by disease or pests and it’s nowhere near your home or other structures, then calling in a tree company should work fine. However, anything more involved means an arborist is a better option. These pros have years of experience with tree removal and can safely take down trees located next to structures, and they have the tools, sanitization equipment, and experience to remove sick or dying trees without infecting nearby trees.

The best way is to start controlling tree height long before it grows too large, via careful pruning through the years. But that’s not always possible. If a tree has become too high or too large, use selective pruning to remove the most troublesome branches, one by one, without topping the tree. Gently shaping a tree like this can, over time, correct problems. You can also find growth inhibitors to spray on a tree to stop it from growing too rapidly, but use these sparingly if at all.

Cutting down a dead tree is always strongly advisable. Aside from being an eyesore, a dead tree can be extremely hazardous, especially when it’s near people or structures. Even if the tree isn’t near your home, it can still harbor pests and diseases that can potentially spread to nearby plants and homes.

Yes, tree roots can regenerate after they’re pruned or cut. In fact, trimming can stimulate new growth, especially in healthy trees. The tree’s roots can still grow back even after a tree is cut down, (and learning how to get rid of regrowing tree roots is a separate feat). Still, if you don’t wish to harm a tree, pruning the roots should be done with extreme care, and ideally by a professional.
