"Awesome!!!! Matt is a very respectable man. His painting skills are like no one else. He takes his time and his work is flawless. He especially shows how much he cares with the detail work he performs. He will always be my painter and I already gave him another job."

"We just purchased this house and the garage doors and front door colors did not look right. We found Clima-Guard on Angies list. Matt came over and gave me us estimate which was exactly what I expected so We hired him. We wanted the color to match the house color. Matt recommended a color and we selected the color that he recommended. The next day Matt started painting in the morning. Matt was very professional, finished the job and it looks amazing. I will most definitely call Clima-Guard for any future painting, and recommend them if you need any painting done."

"First time ever that we did not paint our home. What a great experience working with Oscar Ortiz and his team. The 3 person team came on time and worked together very efficiently. They did an excellent job prepping the room, painting and cleaning areas as they finished. We highly recommend Ortiz Exceptional Painting, LLC ."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Regular staining, sealing, and inspecting for rot or insect damage prolongs fence lifespan.

You shouldn't paint a metal fence. Painting doesn't necessarily damage a corrugated metal fence, but these types of fences are meant to flex, and paint can easily chip and break off. Latex paints can address this issue, but those tend not to be very weather-resistant. Certain paints can trap moisture in the corrugation, which can rust the metal and lead to corrosion. And finally, if you paint a copper fence, it won't patina, which is one of the main reasons people buy copper.

The best time to stain a fence is when the weather is dry and temperatures are between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Late spring, early summer, and fall are typically the best seasons for this project. You should avoid staining during very hot weather, like in the middle of summer, or when it is raining. Heat and moisture can cause the stain to dry unevenly. Likewise, if it's too cold, such as in winter or early spring, the stain may not be able to dry fully. Before you start, check the forecast to ensure there will be no rain and low humidity for at least a few days.

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

Staining a fence is less expensive than painting a fence due to the cost of materials and the longevity of the finish. Stain not only lasts longer than paint without chipping or peeling, but you also won’t have to put in the extra time and cost to prime the surface first.
