"Perfect! Garry painted the inside of my house in 2013. The paint price was a little high, but Garry said it will be worth it. He was soooo right! My walls have been, and continue to be, able to be wiped clean. I still did not need my walls touched up. He touched up my baseboards. They had some areas where paint had been chipped off by the vacuum hitting the baseboards, and 3 grandsons’ cars and trucks running into the baseboards. Garry estimated the time to a tea. No surprises:) Garry is coming back this month to do some exterior painting. He is very busy, so book early. He’s definitely worth the wait and competitively priced. Thank you, Garry!"

"Andy was great! Friendly and professional. Before the job he explained the process. Gave me several options and was patient while we made our decision on which way to proceed. I will hire him again."

Stucco questions, answered by experts

The cost to replace the chimney crown or top is about $1,550 on average. The range varies widely depending on the size of the chimney, the materials used, accessibility, and the extent of the damage. If you suspect a problem with your chimney top, call a professional masonry contractor for an inspection.

Yes, you can apply the stucco yourself, but it is a time- and labor-intensive project, especially on the exterior of a whole house. DIY stucco is better suited for repairing stucco siding or siding a smaller building, such as a shed or garage. Since most of the cost of stucco siding goes to labor, you can cut down significantly on the total if you’re up for the challenge.

Choosing between traditional and synthetic stucco depends on your specific needs, budget, and climate. Both options are durable, but synthetic stucco includes an extra layer that makes it more resistant to cracking and a better choice for climates with extreme weather. In hot, dry climates with less rainfall, traditional stucco is a suitable and more affordable option that is less likely to trap moisture. Synthetic stucco also offers more color options and requires less maintenance.

Masonry screws are the best option to be used on stucco. They’re thicker and made to penetrate harder surfaces like concrete and cinder blocks. Fluted masonry screws work the best because they create a stronger grasp thanks to the lines on their shafts. If you’re working on exterior stucco, use galvanized screws to prevent corrosion.

Stucco repair can best be described as a patch. It involves identifying the problem and fixing that specific damage with additional stucco. If no mold infiltration or an underlying leak is causing the damage, repair is most likely all you need.

Remediation, on the other hand, involves removing the existing siding, fixing the underlying cause of the damage, and then reapplying stucco siding for that wall. It’s a more permanent fix that takes longer to complete and, hence, comes with a steeper price tag than repair.
