"Hired the company for stucco repair work around all the sides of the house. This is an investment property and as such, i was unable to be at the home. Great communication was extreamly useful as I was kept updated with the progress of the work via daily pictures. The work started on time and and I was informed on each issue that came up for review and authorization. On schedule, quality work and as per agreed in advance. Recommended"

"Scott and his co-worker were on time, very professional, very friendly and took the time to explain what was found, including photos, and what the repair would consist of. He went of his way to make my mother feel confident the work was completed and completed correctly. I would highly recommend Scott and his company."

Small jobs welcome

"They were great. They fixed the mistake i made in making a piece of furniture. They installed my wire racking in the cupboards and assembled a coffee table from Wayfair. They were very courteous and helpful. I will use them again."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, a retaining wall should be between 3 and 4 feet high, depending on variables such as the wall-building material, the purpose of the retaining wall, and more. If you want your retaining wall to be taller than 4 feet, check with your local building ordinance office for the maximum allotment. You may also need a special permit for retaining walls over 4 feet tall.

DIY is possible for small projects. Professional installation ensures structural integrity and durability for larger walls.

If you don’t backfill a retaining wall—either at all or adequately enough—the wall won’t drain well, and water will be able to pass through it. Poor drainage will lead to a warped wall or a buildup of hydrostatic pressure, which can eventually collapse your retaining wall. If you have particularly sloped land, consult a structural engineer to ensure your hardscaping is adding value to your home.

Small retaining walls still require a foundation of some kind, typically a concrete footing. This helps to ensure the wall is structurally sound and prevents the ground from shifting over time, especially during those winter freeze/thaw cycles. The footing helps spread the weight of the wall and the load it carries over a larger area of the ground, thus assisting with stability. This is true of small retaining walls, larger rock garden walls, and the like.

The longevity of flood walls depends on how they were constructed, but most wood, gravel, and cement flood walls last 10 years. While aluminum flood walls may cost far more initially, they can be a good investment as they can last decades and will not be damaged by exposure to the elements.
