"Owners Ben and Wendy were always professional , polite and and listened thoroughly to my needs before sending anyone out. While their crew did run into some "snags" due to the design and construction of our home , Josh and Deanthony did not give up but instead pushed through until the job was completed. We were very impressed with them along with Sam and Austin. Every one we encountered from T & F Electric were always polite , professional and sincere in making certain we pleased with all work before they left. Would highly recommend them to anyone with electrical needs."

"I recently had quite a bit of electrical work done. GCFI outlets, install new fans, install outdoor lighting ad hardwire two outdoor fans. I am more than satisfied with the work done by A1 Florida Electrical. Victor was prompt, attentive, explained everything well. I would not hesitate to call them for any future electrical needs."

"McKinney Electric Service was hired to replace all our sockets and switches, replace every lighting fixture and ceiling fans, and troubleshoot/fix a broken switch. They were professional, friendly, communicated well, and stayed on schedule. They did a great job and their pricing was fair. We would definitely recommend them."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Ocala, frequent mistakes include submitting incomplete permit applications, starting work before approval from the City of Ocala Building Department, and using non-code-compliant materials. DIY electrical work often leads to failed inspections or safety hazards. Overlooking local zoning or Florida Building Code requirements can cause costly project delays. To avoid these issues, always hire a licensed professional and follow all city permitting and inspection steps.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Ocala, use UF-B or Romex wiring for residential interiors, and THHN or MC cable for outdoor or commercial needs, as recommended by the City of Ocala Building Department. Install GFCI outlets in wet areas and tamper-resistant outlets for safety. During storm season, surge protectors and backup generators are essential. Always select code-compliant materials from reputable Ocala electrical supply stores.

Helpful?

After electrical work in Ocala, schedule annual panel inspections with a licensed electrician to ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code and City of Ocala requirements. Test GFCI outlets monthly, especially in kitchens and bathrooms, and inspect for corrosion or flickering lights after heavy storms. Before hurricane season, confirm your surge protection and backup power systems are operational, as recommended by local authorities.

Helpful?

Before starting an electrical project in Ocala, gather your property information, contractor license details, and a clear project scope for your permit application. Submit all required documents early via the eTrakit portal to allow for City of Ocala Building Department review. Double-check that your plans meet the Florida Building Code. Consulting a licensed local electrician can help prevent code violations or inspection delays.

Helpful?

In Ocala, most electrical projects—such as new wiring, service upgrades, or major repairs—require an electrical permit from the City of Ocala Building Department. Applications are processed through the eTrakit portal or in person, and must include detailed project plans and contractor credentials. Permit fees generally start at $50 but may increase based on project size. Unpermitted work can result in doubled fees or utility disconnection, per Florida Building Code.
