"Very prompt answer to my request to replace my Rain Soft system, whose brine tank was leaking. They appeared the next morning right on time. Job was quickly done and they cleaned up any mess. However, I have no information on the softener, nor instructions on its use. Troubleshooting, etc."

Customers say: True professional

"This was the quickest and best response I have ever received. Kessler's was on the job promptly and was immediately working to replace the burned out water pump in my well. I had the new pump and water by dinner time and the price was very fair. I will continue to use this company's services for any future needs/repairs for my water system."

"Matt came to look up the water heater and suggested what was required to repair and or replace the water circulator pump. We are still deciding which course to take as the pump replacement is very expensive."

"We bought a water treatment system from them. Tim was very knowledgeable, patient and supportive during the evaluation process. The work crew did a excellent and professional job. They also cleaned up both the equipment and the surrounding before leaving, very much in contrast to many other contractors I have dealt with recently. I highly recommend ECO Water Systems."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

A good hardness level for drinking water can vary based on personal preferences, but an ideal level is 3.5 to 7 GPG. This means your water isn’t soft or hard. However, some people prefer the “fresh” taste from the minerals in hard water, while others like the smoother, “slippery” texture of soft water.

To get utilities set up on a property, you first have to contact the local department of planning to determine whether your property is able to connect to public utilities. From there, you can work with a structural engineer and/or a building contractor to design the layout of utility lines on the property. The pros will need this information as they begin securing building permits before they can start adding lines.

If your property isn’t able to connect to public utilities, you’ll need to consider working with pros to develop a comfortable off-grid home that will meet your needs.

It’s unlikely that hard water on its own could cause substantial hair loss or damage, though it’s true that bathing in hard water can cause your scalp to feel itchy or flaky and might dull your hair’s natural shine. Using high-quality shampoo and conditioner or buying a whole-home water softener can decrease these issues.

Because it’s been through the water cycle, evaporating and becoming slightly acidic thanks to dissolved carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, rainwater tends to be naturally soft compared to groundwater, which has just been in contact with limestone. However, the natural hardness level of water always depends on where you are and other factors.

The primary difference between a water softener and a water filter lies in what they remove from the water. A water softener is designed to remove hard minerals like calcium and magnesium. In contrast, a water filter has a broader effect, removing various contaminants above a certain size, which can include bacteria and other impurities.

To decide which you need, consider your goal. If you want to eliminate hard minerals, choose a softener. If you want to remove a wide range of contaminants, a filter is the better option. Filters are also generally less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply, you may need to install both for comprehensive treatment.
