"I highly recommend TLS. They were very professional & best priced out of 3 quotes I received for new insulation in my attic. They showed up on time and completed the work as described. The owner stopped by to check on the job which rarely ever happens with contractors nowadays. I am extremely happy and satisfied with my choice of TLS and their work. Thank you!"

"The job was far from an easy job and the temperature was extremely hot the day they completed the job. Old insulation had to be removed and bagged up before they could spray on the insulation. They completed all the tasks and completed spraying on the insulation in less than one day. This was for the under side of a manufactured home with very little space to work. They did an outstanding job and emailed me pictures of the completed job. I could not have asked for more. They were professional and on time and the finished product was amazing work. The inside of our home was changed immediately because of the way the foam sealed the underside. I would highly recommend them to anyone."

"

We replaced our roof in Jan 2014, but had leaks in 2 places, none of which were the fault of the roof. Total Roofing came to our house at least 10 times over the course of a year to find the cause of the leaks. One leak which was quickly diagnosed, was caused by a large hole in the gutter. The other leak was much harder.  Eventually, cracks in the mortar were determined to be the cause. We eventually found a good mason who repointed the mortar properly. No more leaks!

"Not only does the roof look gorgeous it's efficient and quiet! It reduced our electric bill along with being cooler, it much quieter. We went with the insulated metal roofing system, which we would recommend, it takes a bit longer and it's more costly but worth the time and money. Frank and his team are friendly, straight forward, and easy to work with. They were efficient and clean, our neighbors even commented how much they appreciated how well they cleaned up each day to keep our road and driveway clear. We would highly recommend them for any roofing job!"

"Our AC went out in the heat of July. They were out the same day and charged the system. After a day, it was down again. We ordered a new system. They were out everyday to charge the system so we wouldn't boil, until a new coil came in, at no charge.. They installed the coil as a substitute coil for the leaky one as a stopgap until out system came in, at no charge. After installation, they made two more trips to make sure the system was working properly. Alex and his team were professional in every way."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Radiant barriers and insulation serve different purposes, so one is not inherently better than the other. Radiant barriers reflect radiant heat, helping keep spaces cool, especially in hot climates, while insulation slows heat transfer through conduction. For optimal energy efficiency, it’s best to use both together.

Radiant barriers can enhance the performance of insulation by preventing heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter. The choice between them depends on specific climate conditions and the building’s design requirements.

Installing sheets of plywood over attic insulation is a popular choice, especially in storage spaces. That said, insulation works by trapping hot air—so it needs extra space to expand and be effective, or you might reduce the energy efficiency of your home.

It’s important that you never compress the insulation by installing flooring directly on top of it. In many houses, you’ll need to install a subfloor before putting plywood over insulation in your attic.

A plastic vapor barrier should completely cover your basement to prevent water from penetrating through the walls. This typically goes before installing insulation to prevent moisture from building up and becoming trapped on the inside of your insulation, where it can collect and lead to mold damage. Installing insulation after the vapor barrier allows for any moisture to exit the walls for better ventilation.

The level of insulation is determined by both the material and the thickness of the door. Some garage door materials (such as wood) have natural insulating capabilities, while other materials (such as metal) do not. No matter the material, two-layer and three-layer garage doors have a higher R-value than single-layer garage doors, as insulation is fitted between the panels.

Yes, you need a 1.5-inch to 2-inch air gap in a cathedral ceiling to allow proper air flow and prevent cathedral ceiling venting problems. This amount of airspace allows warm, moist air to properly leave your ceiling to avoid moisture build-up and other issues that put your home at risk. You can also add an air vent for extra air flow.
