"Installed new Carrier 3.5 ton condenser and 4 ton air handler (fan coil) units. Our old air handler was 3.5 tons. Because the new fan coil was larger, they had to break down the old air return box underneath it in the garage and rebuild a new one. The new one was made of sheet metal, and they did a good job installing it. The only thing that was unexpected was that the air ducts for our house are now maxed out at how much air flow they can take with the new unit, even with the lowest fan motor speed. Did not realize that our duct work was limited in the amount of airflow. Because of this, it might have been better to get a 3.5 ton fan coil unit, however, the efficiency for 3.5 ton unit is not as good. For the month of August our FPL bill was 30% less than last year with the same average temperature."

"These folks are great!  The first couple of years that I had this central AC installed, the main HVAC unit would freeze up and flood the closet and adjacent areas.
After paying another company for the same repair for three years, I finally ditched them and called Weathershield.  They came out, noticed that I had a bad thermostat, replace that, serviced the unit and I haven't had a problem since then.
The folks are super polite, arrive on time and have had my AC purring now for over four years now.  Can't say enough.

"I came home from vacation to find my 15year old air conditioner was dead. Called East Coast just before 7am the next morning and by 9 Scott was here. After discussing options, I decided to replace and upgrade the whole system. He was able to get the old unit up and running that morning, while I waited for the new system to be installed. He sent a technician over at the end of the day to make sure It would make it through the night. The installation of the new unit went well from my perspective. The new unit was much larger than the old unit and the weather was not cooperative that day, but Joni, persevered and got the job done in a calm professional manner. His work was meticulous and he cleaned up after himself. At the end of his long (probably frustrating) day, he took the time to orient me to my new unit and thermostat. Scott was super, responding to my numerous questions and text messages throughout this process. After 35 years in Broward I have finally found an air conditioning service company that I can recommend."

"I have never used this company in the past and was very surprised with the on time commitment of the appointments and communications. Everything I was told actually happened as promised. The repairman was very knowledgeable and professional. He reviewed his findings in detail and explained my options. I researched the cost of the evaporator and found the quoted price very competitive.

"It required coil cleaning, but unfortunately, his company only cleans the A/C ventilating system and other cleaning needs. However, Jack took time from his busy schedule to provide invaluable information regarding the correct type of filter that should be utilized for maximum efficiency. His professionalism, courtesy and dedication to provide the consumer with excellent service ought to be commended.  If it were allowed, I would give him an A++!"

"I was actually referred to Go-Green Duct and Insulation from a neighbor.  Darnell (owner) came out to my home the day after I called him and proposed on the job on tuesday 1/22/13.  Darnell was very knowledgeable and educated me on the insulation process and he also presented me with a very fair quote.  An installation was scheduled for thursday 1/24/13.  On installation day, the crew arrived on time and Darnell himself came to the site to be sure everything was ok.  The crew was very professional, they cleaned up after themselves and were very knowledgeable about what their duties were. I would highly recommend this company.

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

A home radiator works by using radiation and convection to transfer heat throughout your home. Electric radiators use metal to conduct heat and warm the air, which then rises to warm the room. Steam and hot water radiators work with a boiler and piping system to pump thermal energy throughout the home. Hot water radiators use a boiler to heat the water before circulating it to the radiator, while steam heating radiator systems convert the heated water to steam before circulating it out. When the water or steam cools, it travels back to the boiler to be heated again.

The right type of HVAC system will depend on several factors, including your climate, budget, preferences, and existing HVAC setup. For example, if you live in an area that experiences extreme weather, then a split system would likely be the best option. Or, if budget is a concern, consider installing a ductless system in just one room.

Most experts recommend getting three to five HVAC quotes from licensed, insured, reputable local heating and cooling companies. Getting multiple detailed HVAC quotes (but not too many) lets you compare the equipment, services, and prices of several contractors without being overwhelmed by options. It can also let you see if one contractor’s prices are much higher or lower than the others and give you a chance to ask for clarification. That way, you can weed out any contractors who aren’t providing quality services or materials and find the company that best meets your budget, quality requirements, and long-term goals.

Hydronic and standard electric baseboard heaters differ in how they operate, their cost, and their performance. Standard convection heaters use electric coils to heat the air directly, while hydronic heaters warm a contained liquid like water or oil, which then radiates heat into the room.

In terms of cost and efficiency, hydronic heaters usually have a higher upfront price but are more energy-efficient and cheaper to run over time. This is because the heated liquid retains warmth, allowing the heater to continue providing heat for a while after the thermostat turns it off. In contrast, electric heaters provide heat more quickly but are less efficient.

Ultimately, the better choice depends on your priorities. If you need a room to heat up fast and have a lower initial budget, an electric heater might be suitable. If long-term energy savings are more important and you don't mind a slower heat-up time, a hydronic heater is likely the better option.

Deciding whether or not to replace radiators with a different heating system depends on your personal preferences. Radiators can take longer to heat up than a central heating system, and they take up floor space. However, they can be very efficient at heating, and they keep rooms at a more comfortable humidity level in the winter than forced-air systems.
