"Excellent. Peter and his crew were very professional. He showed up promptly to give me a quote and kept me in the loop when he would be arriving to the do the actual job. What I appreciate about Peter was his focus on customer service, responsiveness (returning my calls and emails), and completing the job to my satisfaction. The entire crew worked hard and made sure that everything was cleaned up at the end. So from start to finish, I was impressed and would definitely hire them again and recommend them to others. If your looking for a reliable and quality tree service..this is the one!"

"One of my very important concerns was that the employees were covered by workers comp. Sergeant T's was one of few tree service companies that had that protection for their employees and me the homeowner. I feel someone who takes cares of his employees will take good care of me--And they did. I am hiring them to trim some more trees on another property that I have."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Light-bark trees are most notorious for producing lots of sap when wounded. These varieties include maples, birches, poplars, dogwoods, magnolias, and elms, and they will bleed more when the trees are dormant. That’s why it’s a good idea to prune them in the summer months rather than waiting until winter.

Unless there’s some sort of rule in your community’s homeowners’ association that requires you to remove a stump, there’s no law that says you have to take it out. If you’re not wedded to the idea of removing it, there are plenty of ways to get creative with this tree remnant. Using the stump as the medium for a wood carving or turning it into a planter are just two examples of ways to repurpose a tree stump.

Not all leaning trees are dangerous, but they can be a hazard as gravity may eventually cause them to fall. A key factor is whether the lean is new or has been present for a long time. Trees that have grown with a lean for years are not typically an immediate danger, but a sudden lean is a cause for concern as it often indicates weakening roots. If a tree is leaning more than 15% from vertical, you should consider having it straightened or transplanted. To be safe, it's always best to hire a professional arborist to inspect any leaning tree to assess the risk and avoid potential accidents.

You can use herbicides to prevent roots from growing without killing the tree itself, however they must be used with caution. Systemic herbicides are absorbed by the root and can kill off problematic roots. However, herbicides can sometimes negatively impact nearby plants, so the solution is best used sparingly.

Early signs that a tree is struggling include premature leaf shedding and lesions or other strange markings. Peeling bark, dead or rotten branches on the ground, and a conspicuous lack of leaves can all be signs that a tree has started to die. By the time a tree starts leaning, it’s usually too far gone to save.
