"Long Post...buckle up! Business: Dee's Auto Repair - Winter Springs Please save your time & money! The owner of the shop put 130 miles on our van in the 8 days while it was in her shop for a repair. Along with the 130 Miles, we found Easter decor that DOES NOT belong to me in my vehicle. Full disclosure; I did NOT pay for the repairs done on the van. Dropped the van off with her on Wednesday running so rough with a permanent check engine line throwing a p0300 code(multiple misfire). Also requested an oil change and tire rotation as we were going out of town shortly as well. After having the vehicle for a few days, she called me telling me they were going to replace spark plugs and the back 3 coils (coils at cost only) since they already had them exposed while changing the plugs...The assumption of the call was that those parts being replaced were going towards fixing the issues at hand. After speaking with my husband I called her back and told her to just replace all 6 coils while already there to save us money in labor. Just in case it was one of the front coils that was bad and causing the misfire...mind you I am NOT a mechanic by any means...hence paying someone to do the repair work. Fast forward. 8 days after having the van...calls daily to her for updates just to be told "let me talk to the mechanic and call you back" to sometimes not get a call back at all. I finally decided enough is enough and drove up to the shop. After we got there it was so much back and forth. Her statement was that the van was brought in for preventive maintenance. Which is why she did a tune up and replaced coils. She then stated that the coils were not tested before being replaced...so there goes $310 that I didn't need to spend if it didn't need to be replaced. Again I am not a mechanic so when I called saying that is what they plan to do I assume it is fixing the issues. She then told me the check engine light is off. Just flashing in the morning upon cold start, and to drive it until the van gets worse... We went back and forth for an hour about the lack of communication and the upselling of things that probably didn't need to be done because they were never checked. Claimed oil change was done but not even sure if what they are saying was complete, was actually done because it just seems like they spent 8 days joy riding in it, instead. I asked if they did the tire rotation when they did the oil change and she told me there is nothing wrong with my tires, spit off some Florida law and said they did not rotate them because it wasn't needed.... Needless to say, we ended up leaving with the van after an hour of going around and around and the owner telling me to leave the bill, take the van and go. Then when I realized the insane mileage that was put on the van and called her about it she had no real reasoning as to why she put that many miles on the van, Asked me what the h*** I wanted out of the phone call. Why am I harassing her...what kind of person am I.. super long story short....don't recommend. Not honest, reliable, or trustworthy. If I could give 0 stars. I would!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

There are a few reasons your AC is running but not cooling your room. Thermostat issues and dust and debris, which can clog your system, are common problems. It could also be a broken component, such as a compressor, blower fan, or evaporator coils. You’ll need to call a pro to diagnose the issue.

There are a few ways to determine if a vent is open or closed. You can inspect the vent and examine the position of the fins. If there are spaces between them, the vent is open. If the fins are flat and touching, the vent is closed. You can also stand under the vent when the system is running to see if you feel air flowing through it.

Condensation forms when warmer, outside air combines with cooler air in your ductwork. This can happen when there are leaks in your air ducts, your HVAC system has a dirty air filter, or there’s a lack of insulation around the ducts. To prevent it from happening, replace your HVAC filters as directed. Also, once every five years, hire a local air duct cleaner to clean and inspect them.

If your whole house is cold that’s one thing, but what if you only have a few rooms that are cold? First, you need to determine why this may be happening. A good place to start is to investigate the potential causes listed in this article—heat transfer, airflow, thermostat problems, humidity, and insulation. Once you’ve narrowed down the issue, you’d apply the same principles to the cold rooms as you would to the entire home.

A dirty AC filter can lower the efficiency of your system, so depending on how dirty it was, you may notice a temperature difference when you clean your filter. You can try other solutions if your AC isn’t blowing as cold as it used to. You can call in a local HVAC tech to make sure everything is running correctly, fix your air seal if it’s a window unit, and clean your coils.
