"I called Space Coast Electric to fix an open ground issue in one of my bedrooms. They arrived on schedule. They found and fixed it for a reasonable price. They also did other miscellaneous electrical things for me while they were here. Great job. I recommend them."

"Outstanding. I noticed the other day that my front porch light had dropped out of the recessed receptacle and was hanging by its wires. I quickly contacted several electricians from Angie's list and only heard back from two of them. Both were pleasant and helpful. One could not get to me for about 7-9 days. The other (Phaze Electric) had me on their schedule the next day. Jerome showed up early and quickly assessed what was needed. He obtained the necessary part from Lowe's and was back in a flash to remove the old housing and install the new one. I also used Phaze Electric a couple of years ago to hang ceiling fans on my back porch and they did an excellent job then, too. Phaze Electric will be the company I call in the future for all my electrical needs. I trust them to do a great job at a reasonable price."

Small jobs welcome

"Deltron Electric replaced our outside electric meter box and main breaker. We got a call 1/2 hour before they were scheduled to come saying they wouldn't be coming because they had the wrong parts. Had to reschedule for 3 weeks later. When they came they had 150 Amp main breaker instead of 200 Amp. The replacement meter/main breaker box was different from the original box so the technician had to lower the box for the cable tv cables. In the process he cut about 18 inches off one of the cables and left it without a connector. He also lowered the box for the telephone cables and cut the wires so we lost home phone service. Don't know why he lowered that box as it would not interfere with new meter/main breaker box if he left it where it was. I fixed the telephone wiring and TV cable. He came back a couple of days later and replaced the 150 Amp breaker with a 200 Amp breaker. Things are as they should be now but it wasn't a pleasant experience."

"On March 6, 2024, I had my level 2 EV charger installed by EVPLUGZ of Melbourne Fl. Since the installation I have truly enjoyed using my charger. My Jeep originally came with a 110 volt and it took 12 hours to charge and the wire to the charger became warm. After installing my level 2 charger it only took 2 hours and 20 minutes and I have not seen a great amount of electrical billing. I am very happy to have connected EVPLUGZ and having them to install the level 2 charger. The installers were friendly, timely and the clean up was done after the work was completed."

"My overhead fan would flip my circuit breaker off. Mark had to do some troubleshooting but diagnosed the problem and fixed it in about an hour. Mark’s rates were reasonable and I would definitely hire him again should I have any more electrical issues."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Cocoa, early warning signs include rust or green corrosion on outlets and panels, which can worsen quickly due to humid, salty air. If you notice lights dimming during storms, outlets that feel warm, or breakers that trip repeatedly, these may signal deeper electrical safety concerns. Pay close attention to outdoor outlets and GFCI units, especially after heavy rain or hurricane activity.

Helpful?

In Cocoa, be cautious if an electrician overlooks corrosion protection or lacks experience with storm preparation and flood zone requirements. Quotes that omit permit details or seem unusually low can signal incomplete work. If a professional can’t provide local references or seems unfamiliar with Cocoa’s electrical safety codes and environmental challenges, it’s wise to seek a more qualified expert.

Helpful?

Homes in Cocoa built before 1990, or those near the Indian River or flood-prone neighborhoods, often need electrical upgrades for improved storm preparation and safety. If your home has outdated panels, limited outlets, or lacks surge protection, or if you notice corrosion on exterior fixtures, it’s a strong sign your property would benefit from modern electrical improvements.

Helpful?

For Cocoa’s coastal climate, keep dielectric grease, waterproof wire nuts, and corrosion-resistant outlet covers to combat salt air damage. A GFCI tester and battery-powered voltage tester are essential for regular electrical safety checks. During hurricane season, a waterproof flashlight is crucial. For older homes, wire-pulling lubricant and a grounding rod driver help ensure compliance with local electrical codes.

Helpful?

After finishing electrical work in Cocoa, always schedule a final inspection to ensure code compliance and keep all project documentation for insurance claims, especially after storm season. Test surge protectors and GFCI outlets monthly, and inspect for moisture intrusion. Notifying your insurer about upgrades and checking for corrosion or humidity damage every six months helps maintain long-term electrical safety.
