"They were here a little early for my appointment. That impressed me! They went right to work installing 2 ceiling fans. They were pleasant , answered our multiple questions. "We invited three companies to call us; our main criteria was fast service to replace a ceiling fan, because the existing fan was leaking oil. Mr. Sparky called immediately and said they could be there the next day; well, the next day (Friday) arrived and they called to say they couldn’t make it, and would re-schedule us for Monday. Henry Electric never bothered to call. In-Phaze had also called, so we scheduled with them for Monday and cancelled Mr. Sparky because we felt they were playing games with us. In-Phaze’s electrician showed up on time, and did a beautiful job; he had to install a “fan box” in the ceiling to bring us current with code, which involved a bit of attic work … even cleaned up his mess. We would call them again."

"Mr Pky replied instantly and was here the same day. The repair man was extremely helpful and changed my kitchen ceiling light with a new model that wonâ t need a new light bulb for many years. Brought us to the latest in light fixtures. I would recommend Mr Sparky to all."

"I liked that you always got someone on the phone when you called and they stuck to their word. They came when they said they would. We thought we would have a problem when one of the workers made a hole in our ceiling, but they came back to fix it when they said they would be coming and you can’t even tell the difference. Quality workmanship! I would definitely re-hire if I needed to."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Essential tools for ceiling fan installation include a ladder, screwdriver, pliers, wire strippers, and a circuit tester. If the ceiling is angled or features unique configurations, ensure the availability of a compatible mounting bracket.

No, a ceiling fan doesn’t have to be wired to a switch, but it’s often more convenient. You can use the included pull chain if your ceiling isn’t too high or install a remote module later, as they are a cheap, easy-to-install option that’ll let you control both the fan and light fixture.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

Ceiling fans are very often worth the investment because they improve comfort in your living space and help reduce utility bills. In the late spring and early fall—and even in the summer in some areas—homeowners with ceiling fans can often get away with open windows and fans, which can cut down on cooling bills and also reduce wear and tear on the HVAC system. Over time, ceiling fans can pay for themselves by saving you money on electric bills and air conditioner repair and maintenance.

The more surface area that a ceiling fan blade has, the more effective it will be at producing airflow. Therefore, a longer ceiling fan blade is the better option if you’re looking for more wind. However, a longer blade will consume more energy than a shorter blade.
