"Amazing! Kevin and Austin came to help us. Our neighbor’s ficus tree burst our main water line. They were able to fix it and reassure us that it would be okay. They checked every water outlet (sinks, showers, toilets and pool) to make sure that the leak wasn’t anywhere else. In minimal time they were able to locate the source of our leak and stop it, after another company could not. Equal Rooter is reliable and honest. Their integrity and sense of humor has me recommending them over and over again. They are the best plumbers in town!"

"This is the second time we have used West End Plumbing and both times they have been exceptional. Their response time in both cases was quick and in this case they were here in 30 minutes on a Saturday morning. When you have water leaking from a corroded faucet and the only way to shut it off is to shut the main water supply, it was very much appreciated! Gary Brown, the plumber that came out this time also installed a new wax ring to stop a toilet leak. Gary went out of his way to explain the issues, was courteous and very professional - that service is hard to come by these days. The faucet issue will take another appointment, but he was able to stop the leak until my schedule allows for them to return next week. Great Job, thank you West End Pluming and plumber Gary!"

"Great service. Arrived on time both days with great communication prior to appointment as to what the approximate price would be. House was kept clean at all times and I was kept informed at every step. Even came back the next day to allow me to patch and paint ready to install smaller sink. Did find that ceiling below is dry and found some potential sources of leak. Advice given as to next steps and what to look for and what possible work would need to be done depending on circumstances if became wet again onve bathroom being used again. Will definitely call and use again without hesitation!"

"After 24 years the pipes will start to leak in the house. It hadn't yet, but our next door neighbor had a flood as a result of the old plumbing. We decided after we purchased the house, that it would be best to take them out. These folks did all of that for us. They were excellent. I would give them "A"s all of the way."

"Our garbage disposal was making a terrible noise, like there was silverware in there, but repeated inspections proved that the disposal was empty. The repairman showed up, determined that the unit should be replaced. Then charged $300 for the labor and parts. It only took about half an hour to replace the disposal. The work was done fast and well. However, those disposals go for $100 at Home Depot. That leaves $200 for labor which seems a bit much for a house call and half an hour's work."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

The time it takes to install a sink depends on whether you hire a professional or do it yourself, as well as the complexity of the job. A professional plumber can typically install a sink in 1 to 4 hours, with most routine jobs taking around 1 to 2 hours. However, more complicated installations will take longer. Projects that involve rerouting plumbing, installing an under-mount sink, or making countertop modifications can take a full day. Installing a sink with a prefab vanity could also stretch the project to 6 to 8 hours. If you plan to install the sink yourself, you should set aside 4 to 6 hours, though it could take longer. It's also recommended to have a friend help, especially if you are working with a heavy sink made of a material like porcelain.

Quartz sinks are incredibly durable, making them resistant to cracks and chips. They’re a high-density engineered stone, so they’re less likely to crack when exposed to daily impact. But because quartz sinks are so dense, they are very heavy, making installation a challenge. If you’re a novice, there’s a chance dropping one during installation could crack or break the sink. Additionally, repeatedly dropping heavy objects into them could create a crack.

Never pour used motor oil down the drain. Doing so can have serious environmental consequences, including contaminating groundwater, endangering animals, and killing vegetation. It can also clog your pipes, causing backups in your plumbing or the wastewater treatment plant. In most places, pouring motor oil down the drain is illegal, whether you do it in your home or a storm drain.

You’ll only need to replace your sink’s pipes when you start to notice signs of wear like corrosion or leaking. Most pipes last somewhere between 20 and 100 years, depending on the material. Copper and cast iron can last up to 100 years. Galvanized steel and brass generally have a 50-year lifespan. PVC pipes last 25 to 40 years.

The Thanksgiving holiday period is one of the busiest times of the year for plumbers. Both Thanksgiving Day and the day after, often called Black Friday or "Brown Friday" by plumbing professionals, see a significant increase in service requests. This is because a house full of guests, large holiday meals, and unfamiliarity with the home's plumbing can lead to clogged drains, garbage disposal issues, and sewer line backups. Outside of the holidays, the busiest weekdays for plumbers are typically Monday and Tuesday, as many people discover plumbing problems over the weekend but wait to call for service. Despite the holiday, you can rest assured that many plumbers work on Thanksgiving and Black Friday to handle the surge in emergency calls.
