"Our experience with this company was a very pleasant one. They cut down an Oak Tree that actually had a limb on a power line! They cut it all the way down, did it in one day, I would recommend this company and his crew to anybody that needs tree service, and they cleaned up the area and hauled all the wood off! What a Blessing! A awesome job!"

"These guys were great start to finish. Suzanne in Customer Care and Richard who came out to the property made sure I got the services I needed. They were timely and very professional. The trees look beautiful now. I won't need to shop around, ArborTech is the only place I would use."

"Parish Tree Service did a great job removing a huge tree from my front yard. They were affordable, fast and did a great job removing the entire tree and stump and filling in the hole, to where you couldn’t even tell there was a tree there. I definitely give them 5 stars and will be recommending them to anyone looking for a great reliable tree service!"

"David’s crew trims our shrubs regularly, installed pallets of sod, selected and planted a maple tree and adjusted and revamped our irrigation system. David pays attention to every detail. He kept me informed of his progress throughout all projects and always sought our input regarding landscaping decisions. He is very professional and personable. It is a joy to work with DLA Landscaping. We will continue to use DLA for all our landscaping needs."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Generally, homeowners do not need permission to cut down a tree on their own private property, but there are several exceptions where a permit may be required. You might need a permit if the tree is particularly large, old, or a protected species, such as a heritage tree. Trees located near public property or power lines can also be subject to special rules. Additionally, many local governments and homeowners associations (HOAs) have regulations controlling which trees can be removed to manage an area's appearance or prevent the spread of invasive species. To avoid hefty fines, it is crucial to check with your local government and HOA to determine if a permit is needed before you begin.

Yes, you can prune a palm tree with a chainsaw, but a chainsaw is overkill for a job like this. You risk damaging the tree if you make a bad cut. More commonly, you’ll need pruning shears or a serrated knife to trim a palm tree, or you can use a specialized pruning saw instead of a chainsaw.

Peach trees grow to be about 25 feet, so keep this in mind for pruning as well. If you plan to DIY, you’ll need to be comfortable working on a ladder. Without pruning, peach tree branches can sprawl nearly as wide as the tree grows tall, so make sure to plan pruning sessions at least once per year in the spring for controlled growth. And if you’re working on a ladder, be sure to follow all safety precautions, especially if you’ll be dealing with falling branches.

The best tools for tree removal include a chainsaw for large trees, an ax for notching and cutting down small trees, and a wedge to help control the direction a tree falls in. A hatchet can be useful for very small trees, but won’t be effective for medium to large trees.

You should prune ornamental trees once every other year after the fruit has matured and begun to drop. You should also prune out dead branches whenever you see them. Pruning too often can stimulate more growth, especially in faster growing varieties like Bradford pears.
